Incredible voice, and uber-catchy tracks. Will be a big artist if he stays out of trouble
Christina Perri lovestrong.
Amazing debut album for strong-voiced newcomer. Hoping she wouldn't be a one-hit wonder after her gorgeous single "Jar of Hearts" and she definitely doesn't disappoint. Check out tracks like "Arms" or "Bluebird" for further proof that she has some serious staying power.

The Smashing Pumpkins Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, Vol. 2
About ready to give up on the forty-four song opus, I still continued downloading songs, one at a time, hoping for some small vision of classic Pumpkins to resurface. Second EP, The Solstice Bare starts off completely different with some more electro-rock influence (almost Tron Soundtrack-esque) and the line “Get on board, this train ain’t gonna stop. Where I’m going, I don’t know” on track “The Fellowship.” Then Corgan begs the question “Are you with us or against us tonight?” as almost a request to fans to keep the faith. I’ll admit I was interested and decided to hop on the train.

“Freak” is the first time I regained a feeling that the Pumpkins were not dead. The dirty fuzz of Corgan’s guitar accompanying his classic nasally voice never sounded so beautiful together, as he finally got his groove back and started sounding like himself again. “Tom Tom” starts off more like the first EP, but quickly busts into an oldschool Pumpkins singalong chorus that keeps me rocking through.

2.5 average

The Smashing Pumpkins Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, Vol. 1
Volume One of Teargarden, entitled Songs for a Sailor, starts off a little shaky for me. While I appreciate the piano intro on Song for a Son and how reminiscent it is of Mellon Collie, it soon shows that Corgan is exploring a strange new direction with organs, synthesizers and seventies psychadelia. His research into the phases of the Tarot is also a little different as a theme for the music and comes off a bit soft, despite a few killer guitar solos intermixed through the EP. Widow Wake My Mind is a bit dull and then Stitch in Time gets all retro with a sitar and some dreamy-pop vibes flowing through it.
