As much as I wanted this album to be a success it just fails about 60% of the time. There are some really great
numbers on here (mainly So Cold, Rescue Trained and the title track) but it's mostly just filler. I believe I read
in a rumor that they were originally going to put out a reunion EP. In retrospect that might have been a
fantastic idea. And in regards to the auto-tuning, his vocals sounded pitch perfect live at the show I saw them
at a week ago, so yeah chalk that up to another bad thing. And why is one of the most interesting songs on
the album, "A System of Symmetry", so truncated? It seriously could have been a great album highlight but
instead just feels tacked on. There are some highlights but indeed they are few and far between on this
record. Save some change and just grab: rSo Cold, Rescue Trained, Staring Down the Sun, Penny Black,
Engines and Janie (just because it's the closest you'll get to a DC/FSF collaboration). So yes, practically just
HALF the album is worth listening to! Instead save the money and go see them live where they're performing
all of the old stuff with most of the GOOD songs I mentioned above. |

Aside from Meltdown and Slaughterhouse this is a major disappointment compared to Disguise, which was a pleasant
surprise in 2019. Mostly generic Octane-core to be found here. |
