What are the five best rap albums of all time? Think about it- Liquid Swords, Liquid Swords, Liquid Swords, Liquid Swords, and Liquid Swords, because it spits hot fire!
Immolation Close to a World Below
Iron Maiden The Number Of The Beast
Iron Maiden Live After Death
One of the best live recordings of a band ever. The fact that this album was recorded during Iron Maiden's prime in the "World Slavery Tour" adds to its mystique. If there is one live album that is worth buying, despite musical taste it should be this one.
Katatonia Brave Murder Day
King Crimson In the Court of the Crimson King
Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin IV
Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin II

A fantastic blend of folk and symphonic elements. It would be a disservice to just call this black metal. This album can be enjoyed by almost anyone who enjoys good music. The vocals though done in their native language are superb and fit in very well with the music. Heck, you may be even tempted to sing along to the songs with absolutely no idea what you are saying.

Esoteric The Maniacal Vale
The two bookends in this album that are over 20+ minutes each, are fantastic. Wouldn't be fair to say, but it almost renders the others songs almost as filler. Though that would not be a fair assessment of those other tracks, but it speaks to the strength of those 2 songs.

If there is one part of the album that is of worthy note is the musical orchestration in the last 13 minutes of Ignotum Per Ignotius that essentially closes out the album, as it is some of the best stretch of music my eardrums have graced. Saying it is sublime would be an understatement.

(Would be interested in writing a review of this, bump if I should)
Esoteric Paragon of Dissonance
Esoteric's discography could be divided in thirds based on how their sound has developed throughout the years. This album is of similar musical fashion to the "Maniacal Vale" and very well challenges it. Chandler has taken the ideas that worked so very well in the previous release and expanded upon it. There are moments in this album that would leave you speechless upon listening. Definitely worth for purchase for fans of the genre. Doubt it will win any album of the album of the year accolades because of the obscure and mind debilitating nature of the music, but it should it is sublime.

Funeral Tears Your Life, My Death
You will find quite a bit of similarities from other doom bands like Mournful Congregation, Evoken, and some Worship. Though this is a bit more melodic than those. The musical sounds also has a bit of doom/death vibe that reminds you a bit of Pantheist. The vocals are very similar to those of Skepticism and they flow very well this music never overbearing the atmosphere. What I found surprising is the lack of repetition, now while funeral doom is repetitive this doesn't border on boring the listener as the melodies shift throughout the songs.

Though it is not anything unique or new in the funeral doom genre, it is still a solid listen. (bump if I should do a review)

Profanum Musaeum Esotericum
Though by no means a classical masterpiece, Profanum brings a whole new perspective into ambient black metal. Though at time one can almost sense the change in musical direction, it is still well done. It is well worth the listen, I hope in their next release that they can expand their instruments just a bit, as it would really add just more dimension to the music.

The only way to enjoy to this album is to not think of this and compare it to Opeth's past works. You can't expect Opeth to release the same album again, even though they've made a living out of it to an extent. Its a refreshing sound for them, and should be quite enjoyable for fans of progressive rock. It does have its faults, and at times it seems that Akerfeldt bit of more than he can chew.
