The Lonely Forest The Lonely Forest - EP
This is by far my favorite ep of the year. The Lonely Forest really stretch out their legs on this one, with 4 new songs that really emphasize what a Pacific Northwest band sounds like. Jon's vocals are beautiful with slight resemblance to Adam Duritz of the Counting Crows, but much more clean on the highs. The foundational drums and bass of "Turn Off This Song..." really accentuate the moving guitar lead. Braydn and Eric have a good sense of how to support the band with their key roles, without their talent the band would be halved.

The Lonely Forest Arrows
This is a great start for the band under the Trans record Label. But I would argue that some of the songs on the album stand out far out beyond the rest. The only reason I say this is because some of the songs sound over produce and are too layered with effects. The beauty of for this band (for me) is that you can remove the flesh of the song and the skeleton still sounds amazing. But on Arrows I feel they are experimenting a lot with their future sound, almost too much. Still, excellent album, very fresh, and very energetic.
