5.0 classic
Gorgasm Bleeding Profusely
Internal Bleeding Voracious Contempt
Aside from Suffocation, this is the greatest thing to ever emerge from Long Island. There was a time in the early to mid nineties when there was no one heavier than IB, and this record helps to support that mindset. From the slams to the excellent bass work from Brian Hobbie to the barbaric vocals of Frank Rini, this record has it all. And if there is any doubt, please listen to Anointed In Servitude particularly the part when Frank Rini asserts" I COMMAND THEE TO RIIIIP UP THE DEAD!". Few things in history have been that heavy.
Malignancy Cross Species Transmutation
Mortal Decay Forensic
Mortal Decay Sickening Erotic Fanaticism

4.5 superb
Dehumanized Prophecies Foretold
Devourment Molesting the Decapitated
Flesh Consumed Mutilate, Eviscerate, Decapitate
One of the best albums to come out in recent years. They are a band that expertly melds technicality with slam parts, while also mixing modern sounds with an old-school vibe. Definitely an album to check out if you want to hear some high-quality DM.
Pessimist Slaughtering the Faithful
In my opinion, this is probably one of the top releases to come out in the past decade. Pessimist play fast death metal ridden with excellent riffs and soloing. I'd say they remind me of a more Death Metal influenced Angelcorpse, but again the soloing is much better. Pick this up if you have the chance. My favorite songs would have to be Stripped Of Immortality, Metempsychosis, and the title track.
Regurgitation Tales of Necrophilia
An underrated gem from the late 90's. From the riffs to vocals to drumming, this record has it all. The only thing I can complain about is that the production has no punch to it, but other than that this is a classic.
Saprogenic The Wet Sound of Flesh on Concrete
One of my favorites from the last decade. Saprogenic play a no frills form of DM. It's hard to pinpoint individual influences, but you know exactly what's you're getting from them. I would highly recommend this record and the follow-up Ichneumonid.
Slayer Seasons In The Abyss

4.0 excellent
Broken Hope Repulsive Conception
My pick for Broken Hope's best album. Joe Ptacek's vocals were filthy, and in some ways ahead of his time. Definitely pick this up if you're into 90's death metal or just want to hear an outstanding album.
Cinerary Rituals of Desecration
Deprecated Deriding His Creation
This EP is heavy, it's pretty cut and dry. AJ's vocals are monstrous and the music is pretty Suffocation influenced which is not a negative in my opinion. It's a shame they never released anything else, but this is quite a legacy to leave behind.
Dismember Like An Ever Flowing Stream
Human Filleted Blunt Force Embludgeonment
Odious Mortem Devouring the Prophecy
Severe Torture Feasting on Blood
By far my favorite Severe Torture album. Feasting On Blood is a beast, plain and simple. Very Cannibal Corpse influenced, but with a modern element of brutality to it. Highly recommended to any fan of the genre.
Signs Of Dying Desire Is Suffering
Totally underrated band/release this is their only formal release and it's a shame they didn't release much more. Very technical, but not so much to where it's nauseating. An excellent disc for sure.
Sinister Diabolical Summoning
My pick for Sinister's greatest work with Hate being a close second. One of the best records from the first wave of death metal in the early nineties. Diabolical Summoning is an absolute classic.
Soils Of Fate Crime Syndicate
Killer release out of Sweden. This band is very much influenced by Dying Fetus and other bands from the mid 90's, while also mixing in a sort of hip hop influence as well. Ruben from Devourment provides guest vocals of a couple tracks. Definitely a worthwhile release.
Syphilic Symphony of Slit Throats
Vomit Remnants Supreme Entity

3.5 great
Angelcorpse The Inexorable
Brodequin Festival of Death
Brodequin is a band most people seem to either love or hate. Personally I fall into the former. In their existence Brodequin created a sounds very much their own. This was in part to their unrelenting speed and muddy, wall of sounds production style. Top songs for me would be Trial By Ordeal and Vivum Excoriari.
Despondency God on Acid
Disentomb Sunken Chambers of Nephilim
A very promising band emerging from down under. The Caligorge influence is quite evident, but there are also parts(especially the vocals) that remind me of Internal Suffering. This is certainly an impressive debut from a young band with quite a bit of promise.
Exhorder Slaughter in the Vatican
Exhumed Anatomy Is Destiny
Fleshgrind Murder Without End
Goratory Rice on Suede
An great record from one of Massachusetts' greatest exports. The technicality on here was greatly increased, mainly due to the addition of drummer extraordinaire Darren Cesca. Adam's vocals are insane of this too. Definitely pick this up if you enjoy chaotic death metal with a twisted sense of humor.
Incantation Upon the Throne of Apocalypse
Massmurder Slaughtered For Snuff
Killer release from Unmatched Brutality. Unrelenting speed is the name of the game on this one, which makes sense since members of Brodequin ran Unmatched Brutality so not surprisingly Massmurder reminds me of the aforementioned Brodequin. Definitely recommended to those who enjoy their death metal real fast.
Mastodon Remission
Mutilated Devirginated Genital Pulp
Pyaemia Cerebral Cereal
Reinfection They Die For Nothing
This album is the soundtrack to someone being tortured I would imagine. A totally underrated release from the earlier part of last decade. Pick this up if you like your DM with a touch of goregrind.
Severe Torture Misanthropic Carnage
Severed Savior Brutality is Law
Brutality is Law is what you'd expect it to be. Well-played death metal with no frills. Their follow-up to this meandered into a more all out technical direction, but this album features hints of that without going too over the top with it. The opening tracks, One by One and Buried Again, would be my choices for the best ones.
Skinless Foreshadowing our Demise
It's a toss up between this and Progression Towards Evil for me regarding which one is better, but I'll choose this one slightly. Plenty of groove and random hilarious samples are found on this disc. One of the better acts to emerge from New York.
Soilent Green A String of Lies
An excellent EP from one of my favorite bands. Cat With Nine Claws is one of my favorite Soilent Green songs.

3.0 good
Dead For Ten Weeks Bloodline Detriment
Deaden Hymns of the Sick
Deeds of Flesh Trading Pieces
Defiled Erupted Wrath
Degrade Lost Torso Found
Underrated band out of Sweden. This band features quite a bit of groove to them. Not sure if they're still active, but I'd love to hear some new material from them.
Dysentery From Past Suffering Comes New Flesh
Incantation The Infernal Storm
Infernal Revulsion Dead But Breathing
One of the better bands to emerge from Japan. I think the production value on this trumps the band's debut, but that record is solid as well. Definitely pick this up if you're into modern brutal DM with a NYDM element to it.
Internal Suffering Chaotic Matrix
Probably my favorite IS release, as this was the final effort from them to feature slower slam-like parts. After Chaotic Matrix, the speed element of the band which has always been present was drastically increased. Yes, the production on it is lackluster but aside from that it's a solid record. My favorite tracks would be Cosmic Ancient Mountain and Colossal Vortex.
Last Days of Humanity In Advanced Haemorrhaging Conditions
Lividity Used, Abused and Left For Dead
Lust of Decay Infesting The Exhumed
Mortician Zombie Apocalypse
Parasitic Extirpation Casketless
Retch (USA-CA) Ben-Wa Baby Heads
Sexcrement Genitales From the Porno Potty
Suture Carnivorous Urge To Kill
A forgotten release from 2002. Suture was a band that at face value really didn't have anything about them that made them stand out, but regardless this is a good album. They don't play overly fast and don't feature copious amounts of slam, it's just good solid death metal from Louisiana. Systematic Removal of Vitality and Bonesaw are the top tracks for me.
TON Plague

2.0 poor
Pathology Legacy Of The Ancients
Boring release. The only saving grace is Matti Way's vocals, which as usual are excellent. I wish I could feel or say the same for the rest of the album.
