Agalloch Marrow of the Spirit
The atmospheric layering is what makes this album so invasive. Can't get it out of my head.

A stunning mix of post-rock and black metal. The interplay of the two genres is seamless.

3.5 great
First Aid Kit The Lion's Roar
Fleet Foxes Helplessness Blues
Fleet Foxes stay true to form while breaking some molds as far as content is concerned. It's a welcome change, although sadly, Pecknold seems to favor bluntness over subtlety this time around.
Liturgy Aesthethica
Radiohead The King of Limbs
Radiohead take UK's popular minimalist electronica movement and make it into something completely their own. It's definitely not the best thing Radiohead has ever done, but it's still great in its own right.
The Black Keys Brothers
The Weeknd Echoes of Silence
Cover of MJ is awesome. Overall, not quite as stellar as House of Balloons, but a worthy end to his trilogy.

August Burns Red Home
I've listened to August Burns Red diligently since Thrill Seeker. I've been with them since
their major line-up changes, I've been with them through the hysteria of the innocuous
Messengers, I've adjusted to their experimentation in Constellations, and sadly, I'm still
with them through this mediocre live album.

Home tries so hard to be a testament to these plain-town boys's energetic live shows, but
instead, it becomes a marketing technique, a gimmick, a chance for record labels to snatch
up high schooler's hard-earned cash. I like live albums. I love to feel like I'm apart of a
greater, group experience, and August Burns Red has such an experience. But I'm afraid it
isn't conveyed well here. Tooth And Nail and their subsidiary Solid State are so hell-bent
on solid production and streamlined rock that they miss the fact that what makes a live
album a LIVE album is the flaws. The missed notes, the dissonant chords, the cracking
voices, and most of all, the damn fans! Where the hell are the cheers and claps on this
album?

Also, Jake Lurhs's voice wavers in and out too much on this album. I know I just said errors
are what make a live album, but for some reason he sounds like he's out of breath from start
to finish of this performance and it just becomes a pain to keep up with for anyone who
knows their songs.

When I listened to this CD and watched their documentary, I was truly moved by their
passion, and I strongly believe these guys have their hearts set on explosive heights; I
just don't think Home is an appropriate portrayal.

A Day To Remember What Separates Me from You
I have to admit I've been growing out of love with this band for a long time now. I think that some stuff they've had in the past was catchy and enjoyable, but they've always had a strong sense of cliche and plainness. What Separates Me From You takes cliche to a whole new level.
