Much more variety on this than on Ultraviolet.
The instrumentals are good and beefy, and the
lyrics are surprisingly borderline atheist (if
only as an experiment in perspective). Very
refreshing change of pace for the band. That
said, I do wish there were more harsh vocals.
Some of the lyrics that are said and the
instruments that accompany them feel like they
promise much more attitude than the pleasant
vocal lilt that is in the majority of these
tracks. I also can't much stand "Spit it Out".
If the same sort of harsh vocals that are at
the ends of a few of these tracks were more
frequent and that song was on par with the rest
of the ones on this record, this could easily
be a 4 or 4.5 for me. But because this is such
a short EP, each flaw stands out more than it
would on a full-length album.
