5.0 classic
Death Human
You know, I've been listening to Death Metal for a while now. While some bands have come and go from my life, the one that has stayed with me was Death, and "Human" was the top of their albums in my opinion. The songs flow perfectly together, the lyrical content isn't violent for no reason, but rather made me think and reflect on my life unlike some other Death Metal bands/albums/singles/songs. Being a musician, I can respect their instrumentation all around. Every musician in the band was passionate about their work.
With all of that said, rest in piece Chuck Schuldiner: the man who can wear a sweater with kitties and still be brutal.
Janelle Monae The ArchAndroid
I'm not quite sure how I managed to come across this woman, but WHAT a FANTASTIC voice and album! I was just ranted to about how Lady Gaga is so groundbreaking and things, and while Gaga is "something," she just reminds me of the many recycled female pop vocalists that have appeared over the years, the only difference is her notibly taking tips from Marilyn Manson. In my opinion, both of her albums are pale in comparison, regardless of the classical vocal training she has recieved that her fans enjoy boasting about so frequently. I don't know how I managed to come across it (probably though Outkast fans such as myself), but however I did it, I'm more than happy that I did. I need to go out and actually purchase a copy of the album just so I can enjoy adding it to my physical collection. Another album worth looking at for you all is Yahzarah's "The Ballad of Purple St. James." I would say it is on about the same level as this and that's saying a lot in the days of Autotune and unnecessary screaming.
KMD Mr. Hood
Nas Illmatic
Um... I had a lot of stuff written here, but I guess I've reached a character limit, so I'll just leave the last part that basically summed it up instead of making a completely new review.
This is a FANTASTIC album, much worth a 5, even if it were to have come out yesterday. However, stans need to leave him alone. Everyone is trying to move forward, be innovative, and work hard, and if all we do is boo them off stage (Nas included because "Distant Relatives" is a little underrated if I do say so myself) then there will be nothing to look to in the future.
Wu-Tang Clan Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
In my opinion, it is a classic album. I really hope our children's children hear this album. There a few promising artists out there, and most of them are the ones that don't include a random title in front of their name, but even then, some of those are alright too. I hope they and their offspring bathe in this album, because this is the ruggedness, the rawness, the passion, and the everything that it takes to make the perfect rap album in my opinion.
Yahzarah The Ballad of Purple St. James

4.5 superb
Busdriver RoadKillOvercoat
Busdriver is my crack, and this music really does it for me. Every track presents a different feeling, all with great lyricism and production. What more can I ask for?
Cannibal Corpse Tomb of the Mutilated
Cannibal Corpse is a great band and "Tomb of the Mutilated" is a great album... however that is as far as it goes for me. This is one of my favorite Death Metal albums, but once I hear this album, I feel like I've heard all of the Cannibal Corpse albums. Might I add that Corpsegrinder appears to be leading Cannibal Corpse to a sharp turn for the worst? The instrumentation isn't as creative (imo), the lyrics aren't nearly as "shocking" as the used to be (for better or for worse), and in comparison to Chris Barnes, he seems completely unwilling to experiment with new things in vocals. Anyway, listening to this in comparison to the new CC albums is really saddening because I know that even if they were to go back to that, *that* would be the only thing they do.
Digital Underground Sex Packets
Maaaan... this album is craaaazy. I'm dead serious, I would have given it a 5 if it weren't for Shock G talking about sex every two seconds... but even then, it's a great album.
Iron Braydz Devil May Cry
While clearly he didn't have enough money for a fantastic album cover, the album "Devil May Cry" is honestly one I would regard top 5 of the year. I would be satisfied if Iron Braydz put out more work.
Actually I did want to buy the album. I love having CD cases. It just feels nice. I can't find it online anymore, but I'll check ebay.
Kid Cudi Man on the Moon: The End of Day
I'm gonna go out on a limb and give this a superb rating. While some of the songs were a little misplaced especially with Common's narration included, it's a fantastic album that I do expect to remember for a very long time, and for the longest time I would have told you that nothing on the radio was worth listening to.
Okay, I might still say that occasionally. Regardless, great album.

Edit: I would also like to point out that Kid Cudi is one of the better rappers around today who also sing.

4.0 excellent
Busdriver Jhelli Beam
This album is very much a solid one and every Busdriver album is a little different in one way or another, however I really wish he would go a little further. Either way, I can't judge him as an artist, nor can I judge anyone else that way because they may just not be for me... but still. I wish he would do something a little different for his next album.
Death Scream Bloody Gore
I'm going to be typical and just say that I prefer "Human" over "Scream Bloody Gore," but this album has something special too. I will say that people who gave poor ratings on the Death albums because they did not enjoy the lyrical content really need to focus on every single part of an album rather than just throwing down a 2 or lower because their priests don't enjoy the albums.
Gorillaz Plastic Beach
KMD Bl_ck B_st_rds
I don't like it as much as "Mr. Hood" but I do like it very much, and that album cover is of great significance to me.
Lootpack Soundpieces: Da Antidote!
I'm a really big fan of Madlib and Lootpack in general, but whenitcomestodamic, Madlib should probably step back sometimes. Madlib is a fantastic producer, and he could put a LOT of rappers to shame, but many other rappers did much better than him on that album and it seems like he hogged the mic a lot of the time.
M.I.A. Maya
imo, it's a fantastically produced and written album. I just got into M.I.A. a little while back, but not the way that most others did I guess which would be through Paper Planes. I've listened to all of her official albums so far and this takes the cake for me, trumping "Kala" *and* "Arular" in my opinion. Lots of artists are trying to say that there really isn't anything to talk about other than happiness, but M.I.A.'s new album along with the new Nas and Damian Marley album have proved them wrong. I don't mean to be a pessimist, but bring real world issues to our attention is very important to me, especially ones that are outside of America (I live here), and even though I read books and newspapers, I love to hear it through the voice of the people. M.I.A. did exactly what she said she wanted to do, and she did it right, because I've learned and it all managed to make me dance as well. I'm slowly becoming a big fan of this woman.
Sun City Girls Torch of the Mystics
I may just have to come back later after a full listen, but from what I've heard from this album, it is quite interesting.
The Radio Dept. Clinging to a Scheme
I'll tell you honestly, this is an excellent album. Albeit not revolutionary or groundbreaking, it is a very interesting one that deserves recognition in and outside of it's respective genre.
We Are The Emergency Whispers and Fragments
Yahzarah Blackstar
It is a fantastic album and very much one worth listening to, however it doesn't quite hit me the way her more recent album does.

3.5 great
Busdriver Fear Of A Black Tangent
I enjoyed the idea of the play on "Fear of a Black Planet," but I wish he had went a little further with that. Either way, this album is fantastic on the lyrical tip and the production is great as usual for a Busdriver album, however I really cannot get over how down on himself he is. I mean it is a good thing to talk about in comparison to a lot of rappers who brag themselves into comas, but still.
MF DOOM MM.. Food
Ohay, look, it's an e-bloodbath.
Anyway, it's a decent album. I rate "Operation: Doomsday" much higher. It really does sound like he wrote most of this album sober though, for better or worse.
Stars The Five Ghosts
United Nations Never Mind the Bombings, Here's Your Six Figures

3.0 good
Gucci Mane Mr. Zone 6
I'm not usually a fan of Gucci Mane, but I decided to give "The State vs. Radric Davis" a chance because the song "Bingo" seemed to prove that Soulja Boy was actually giving an honest attempt to step up his game and Gucci Mane didn't make me cringe or anything on the track. I listened to this mixtape. I'll just keep it brief here: Gucci Mane would be a much better rapper if he spat with his soul rather than with his hands clutching his chain. I don't mind raps about money or anything, but if you're gonna do it, be original *and* clever when you do it. Gucci shines on some parts of some tracks, and it's decent for a mixtape considering what it is supposed to be, but as far as replay value and my personal enjoyment, I probably don't think I'll be listening to it very much.
Lady Gaga The Fame Monster
I wanted to rate this average, but good seems a bit fairer. I am very critical of her obsessive fans, however she herself is an average artist with an interesting head-nodder of an album... but interesting does not imply "creative" or even "above-average." As I've said before, she reminds me of many, many other artists, only recycled into one, kind of bland mass.

1.5 very poor
New Boyz Skinny Jeans and a Mic
I will give it a 1.5 because it is a very "dancy" album in a decent way, but even using the excuse that it's supposed to be for dance is not enough to make it a plausibly good album... as for the lyrics... I... they... I can't... *sigh*.
