Sorry, Pixies, but weird, unstructured instrumentals and awkward vocals do not good music make. Yes, the ambience of the album, courtesy of Steve Albini, is awesome; the drums are loud and the guitars screech. But that only works for certain songs on the album - "Where Is My Mind?", "Something Against You", and "River Euphrates" are terrific, but that's about it. The rest sounds downright strange, and not in the good way. Be honest, do you REALLY enjoy listening to songs like "I'm Amazed", "Broken Face", and "Vamos", where Black Francis sings like a 5-year-old? I give it credit for being artistic, and certainly unique, but this just isn't something I'd like to listen to. However, if you don't mind random noises and awkward songwriting, by all means, get this. It's a very subjective album.
