Metallica Ride the Lightning
Although Metallica's best album is usually regarded as being Master of Puppets, I have to disagree; instead, I hold Ride The Lightning as the true owner of that title. The main reason for this, apart from my opinion, is that the album feels like a true album. The songs on RTL all have an angry, dark, and suppressing feel, which helps them flow as one. The concussion-inducing opener, Fight Fire With Fire, sets the quickfire pace for the album, only slowing down for the ballad Fade to Black. Every single song is one to treasure, (with perhaps the exception of Escape), and in turn make this album a classic.
Metallica ...And Justice for All
Morbid Angel Altars of Madness
Slayer Reign in Blood
Some of the songs aren't that great. The vocals could use work, other songs are too short or simplistic, and while the drumming can be incredible (Lombardo FTW!), it sometimes turns into a speed contest. Oh, and the solos hurt my ears, and not in the good Iron Maiden way. HOWEVER, this album is a milestone of the thrash genre, has two of the best thrash songs ever, Raining Blood and Angel of Death, and is the essential Slayer album. If you call yourself a metalhead, go and buy this. I won't guarantee you'll love it, but it should be in everyone's collection. Period!

Iron Maiden The Number of the Beast
Iron Maiden's first album, with legendary vocalist Bruce Dickinson, is one of the most well-known and revered heavy metal albums. The one album bands after it strived to surpass, the album that set the mark so high. But, the record is also not without it's flaws, the largest of which is a lack of great content. Songs like the title track and the awe-inspiring Hallowed Be Thy Name seem to shadow the others in their greatness. Thus, the labum almost feels incomplete, as if the band could have done something more. None the less a great album, but just shy of being another Powerslave.
Iron Maiden A Matter of Life and Death
Morbid Angel Covenant
Overkill The Years of Decay
Testament The New Order
Testament continue their goth inspired thrash metal, while adding even more occult themed chords to their music. A great album, but in my opinion, not quite as fun to listen to as their debut, The Legacy.
