| A Day To Remember And Their Name Was Treason |
This album kicks off with an erie intro featuring lines from the film "Donnie Darko"("Wake up, ive been watching you.") wich immediatly sparked my interest. The intro quickly led into "Heartless". The song was good, but the drums kind of bored me. Alex is a great drummer, but they should have been a tad more creative with cymbals.
The album got a little more interesting around "Casablanca Sucked Anyways". It was an easier song to comprehend with all the feeling it displayed, where as most of what i heard had a few mixed emotions. Even though that's what most lyrics are based upon, its good to hear a creative one once in awhile.
They slowed it down a bit with "You Had Me At Hello", adding some originality to the album. Listeners can connect especially with the lyrics to the song because everyone has somebody they care for deep enough to write lyrics about them. The album ends with a striking outro leaving a trail of satisfaction behind, but at the same time leaving you wondering what's in store in the next album.
To be honest, ADTR is a really good band, one of my favorites, but they can do better, especially with some of their recent stuff. As far as the beginning, and making an impression, i was quite impressed. I never get tired of the album.The Guitar sound should be more original. Some of the songs, if you listen enough, have the sound almost of Bring Me The Horizon. BMTH's sound is very sharp and thrashing. It gets old listening to the same sound all the time.Especially when its only in a few songs.
I saw this album performed live, it was a good show, but the sound quality was kin of crappy. Their live performances should be worked on a tad. Overall i give the band props for the Excellent first impression, being that it was better than most. |
