| A step up from Paradise Lost. There are songs that provide the best Symphony X has to offer (Iconoclast, The End of Innocence, When All is Lost, Reign in Madness). Unfortunately the rest of the album blends together a little too much, but I like the direction they are taking here. The album is very heavy, sometimes bordering on too much (Heretic). It's almost a blend of V and Paradise Lost; I just wish there was a bit more V in there. One important note is Michael Romeo's performance. This album is his crowning achievement in my opinion. |
