5.0 classic
Howard Shore The Lord of the Rings: Complete Trilogy
Kendrick Lamar good kid, m.A.A.d city
Tera Melos Untitled
Tera Melos Drugs to the Dear Youth
The Dillinger Escape Plan Miss Machine
Definitely the most accessible and, in my opinion, the most successful of DEP's albums. There's a variety of brilliance for the uninitiated and the fans alike. Make sure you listen to this album at least a few times before you set it aside; it must be digested before it even becomes intelligible, but when you begin to actually hear what's being played and are able to anticipate what comes next, something clicks, and you realize each song is well written despite all the dense, technical bombardment.

I enjoy this album best listening to it drunk. And that's saying more than it sounds like. It's still not all people crack it up to be on this site. But it's not bad, and has its epic, poignant moments.

Reminds me of early Dance Gavin Dance. Very Energetic. Wish they would mature a little and make like two more albums' worth of music.

Catchy as hell. Since you've heard it all before, from the first listen it's already grown on you. And yet it's still innovative, for the most part. Certainly better than the sum of its parts.

This band's music is brilliant but lacks listenability. I love the intensity of screamo, but something about this is almost too abrasive for anything more than a brief listen. Great car-music though.

3.0 good
American Football American Football
My attention seems to ALWAYS stray, several times, while listening to this album. Certain parts simply bore me, and slip by without leaving anything memorable behind. Some people enjoy getting lost in the long minimalist sections. I think they could have been a great deal more interesting. If you like the sound this band spawned (and they really deserve that credit), I would recommend that you explore the band This Town Needs Guns--it is an all-around better version of American Football IMHO.

John Mayer Continuum
People need to differentiate between John Mayer's guitar-prowess and the overall enjoyability of his songwriting. I agree that he is a master of his instrument, but his songs and albums exist in a different sphere of judgement. It seems I am in the minority (at least on sputnik), but his music either fails to grab my attention in any compelling way or makes me cringe when it does grab my attention. What some perceive as subtle, heartfelt soul via well-crafted blues I perceive as excruciating John-Mayer-getting-off-to-John-Mayer. All that said, I think Continuum is probably his best album yet, so if you like his sound you should look into it...
M83 Hurry Up, We're Dreaming
With all the hype, I expected much more out of this album. Recommended tracks: My Tears Are Becoming A Sea; Where The Boats Go; Wait; Train To Pluton; Year One, One UFO; Echoes of Mine.
My Morning Jacket Z
Recommended tracks: Dondante, Gideon, What a Wonderful Man, Anytime
Paramore Riot!
Richard Cheese The Sunny Side of the Moon
Evokes a smile or a hearty chuckle once in a while. Worth a listen or two. I especially enjoyed his parody of Slipknot's colorful song People = S*** and of U2's Sunday Bloody Sunday.

The Avalanches Since I Left You
While there are definitely pleasant creative pockets throughout this album, overall I don't find it to be nearly as inspired as people make it out to be. Frontier Psychiatry is probably the only track I get into, but even it, the stand-out track, isn't that great. It must have been arduous and fun to piece together, and that's a pity, because it amounted to something I don't think I'll ever be happy to listen to. Perhaps this just isn't my genre, but I think my discontent counts for something, even if it's just the inevitable "this isn't for everyone" voice.
