There's a variety of brilliance for the uninitiated and the fans alike. Make sure you listen to this album at least a few times before you set it aside; it must be digested before it even becomes intelligible, but when you begin to actually hear what's being played and are able to anticipate what comes next, something clicks, and you realize each song is well written despite all the dense, technical bombardment. The National BoxerThis album just grows and grows and grows and grows and grows.Tool Lateralus4.5 superb311 Greatest HitsAJJ Knife ManAvenged Sevenfold Waking the FallenBear vs. Shark Right Now You're in the Best of HandsBy The End Of Tonight/Tera Melos Complex Full of PhantomsThe 4.5/5 rating comes as an average of the album's two halves (Tera Melos 5/5, By The End Of Tonight 4/5)Coheed and Cambria In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3Damiera M(US)ICDispatch Bang BangIncubus (USA-CA) Make YourselfJoanna Newsom YsNas IllmaticPiglet lava landThe Dillinger Escape Plan Calculating InfinityThe Mars Volta De-Loused in the ComatoriumThe National Alligator4.0 excellent311 EvolverAt the Drive-In Relationship of CommandAtmosphere When Life Gives You Lemons...Bear vs. Shark Terrorhawkblink-182 Take Off Your Pants And JacketBob Dylan Blonde on BlondeBob Dylan Highway 61 RevisitedBon Iver For Emma, Forever AgoBox Car Racer Box Car RacerBrand New The Devil and God Are Raging Inside MeI enjoy this album best listening to it drunk. Certain parts simply bore me, and slip by without leaving anything memorable behind. Some people enjoy getting lost in the long minimalist sections. I think they could have been a great deal more interesting. If you like the sound this band spawned (and they really deserve that credit), I would recommend that you explore the band This Town Needs Guns--it is an all-around better version of American Football IMHO.Arctic Monkeys Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm NotDamiera Quiet Mouth Loud HandsDance Gavin Dance Downtown Battle MountainDeftones Diamond EyesFrom First to Last AestheticGhosts and Vodka Addicts and DrunksGin Blossoms New Miserable ExperienceGirl Talk Night RipperHella Hold Your Horse IsKid Cudi Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. RagerMassive Attack MezzanineModest Mouse The Moon & AntarcticaRx Bandits ...And the Battle BegunSecret And Whisper Great White WhaleSilversun Pickups PikulTera Melos Idioms, Vol. 1The Album Leaf In A Safe PlaceThe Kooks Inside In/Inside OutNaive is an awesome song. I agree that he is a master of his instrument, but his songs and albums exist in a different sphere of judgement. It seems I am in the minority (at least on sputnik), but his music either fails to grab my attention in any compelling way or makes me cringe when it does grab my attention. What some perceive as subtle, heartfelt soul via well-crafted blues I perceive as excruciating John-Mayer-getting-off-to-John-Mayer. All that said, I think Continuum is probably his best album yet, so if you like his sound you should look into it...M83 Hurry Up, We're DreamingWith all the hype, I expected much more out of this album. Frontier Psychiatry is probably the only track I get into, but even it, the stand-out track, isn't that great. It must have been arduous and fun to piece together, and that's a pity, because it amounted to something I don't think I'll ever be happy to listen to. Perhaps this just isn't my genre, but I think my discontent counts for something, even if it's just the inevitable "this isn't for everyone" voice. The Dear Hunter Act I: The Lake South, the River North1.5 very poorCreed Human ClayJack Johnson Sleep Through the StaticJack Johnson To the Sea1.0 awfulHigh School Musical High School MusicalHigh School Musical High School Musical 2
