Charles Mingus Mingus Ah Um
David Bowie The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars
The concept behind this record strikes me as incredibly contrived and stupid. He cut corners from his original idea to make it more adaptable for his elaborate stage performance? Musically, however, this record is timeless, and a prodigious accomplishment of musical art.

Mastodon Oblivion EP
Mastodon's 'Oblivion EP', which was released only in digital format November 2009, is a bit
of a cash grab. the band is currently signed to Warner Bros. Records, and this is a Reprise
release, so i imagine it's just Reprise looking to score a little dough. don't get me wrong,
the tracks are pretty solid, but it's nothing you haven't heard before (except for the
previously unreleased 'The Bit'), and it's really more of a single than an ep. still cool to
have, but mostly as a collector novelty.

There's a couple moments that are simply stunning; lots of OK Computer in this.

Dual female vocal harmonies over sweetly played acoustic guitar is always nice. Not really my cup of tea, but really good. Mixing is a bit harsh sometimes.

Radiohead The King of Limbs
The first half of The King of Limbs is a collection of non-essential Radiohead B sides, while the second half is a very tight and focused (while relaxed) progression from In Rainbows. Codex may be one of the band's best tracks to date.
