36 Crazyfists A Snow Capped Romance
A classic metalcore release comparable to KSE's "Alive or Just Breathing". Standouts include "Bloodwork", "Kenai", and "At The End of August".

A brilliant punk release, each track screaming with potency and emotion. Standouts include "Baby, I'm an Anarchist", "Pints of Guinness Make You Strong" and "Those Anarcho-Punks are Mysterious".

Rammstein Liebe Ist Für Alle Da
Rammstein has always created hard hitting, powerful albums, often carried by simplistic riffs and harsh vocals. LIFAD seems to be a celebration of the last 5 albums jammed into one, giving it a very nostalgic, yet new rammstein feel like only these germans can deliver.

I hadn't seen the band when I first heard "Ocean Floor", and really found myself impressed with the originality and vibe that this track had. It trumps the repetitive bullshit on the radio, or the cliche metal groups out there today by being something completely new, and while the band may be gimmicky, their music is impressive and you'll find yourself loving many tracks off the album if you give them a chance.

I really like the idea of this album, and while the majority of the tracks, such as "Willing" and "Live in Love" are fairly strong and cohesive, the auto-tuning on Adam's voice serves as a huge distraction, especially in "Fall From Grace". Jesse's voice is fairly strong throughout the album, and his screams have only gotten better since leaving Killswitch Engage. Overall a fairly good album, that could always have been better.

3.0 good
36 Crazyfists Bitterness the Star
While the riffs are catchy, Brock's almost "goat" sounding clean vocals take away from what could have been a classic debut.
36 Crazyfists The Oculus
A good preview for "The Tide and It's Takers"
Against Me! White Crosses
This is a good album in that the songs are very catchy and fun, however it suffers from being overproduced. The growls from Tom Gabel from previous albums are gone, and in them dies the punk aesthetic.
Alexisonfire Dog's Blood
To me, this EP seems like a quick attempt to apologize to the older group of AOF fans that were distanced after "Crisis" and "Old Crows/Young Cardinals" by producing a deliberately heavy batch of songs without having to commit to them (by releasing them on a full record).

This album isn't terrible, but it's such a disappointment compared to earlier KSE albums that it may cause me to rate it lower than I would had it not been KSE. I hope that their next album is more of a return to their roots, and not an attempt to become a mainstream metal group.

2.5 average
36 Crazyfists Collisions and Castaways
Disappointing for 36CF, there isn't really a stand-out track here, just an album of average tracks that might as well be b-sides for their last release.
Apocalyptica 7th Symphony
As I thought with "Worlds Collide", Apocalyptica has started getting far to reliant on other stars to fill in vocals for them. What this group needs is either to return to full instrumental albums (which is what they were good at), or hire a full time vocalist, in order to give their albums a feeling of consistency, and not some poorly assembled compilation album.
Atreyu Lead Sails Paper Anchor
Disturbed Asylum
These tracks blend together, and in the end sound like a mess. I like Disturbed, but this is a disappointing release...
DragonForce Valley Of The Damned
Emigrate Emigrate
While some of the tracks are catchy (and "Let Me Break" sounds like it should be a theme song for a Bond movie), the vocals are so heavily accented and whiny that it takes away from the potential that this album does have.
In Flames Sounds of a Playground Fading
I had to really force myself to get through this record, and that is something that should never happen with In Flames albums. There isn't really an amazing track on this one...it's a collection of average tracks that are all easily forgettable.
Metallica Load
Mudvayne By the People, For the People
Mudvayne Mudvayne
Nine Inch Nails Further Down the Spiral (UK)
Passenger (SWE) Passenger
Serj Tankian Lie Lie Live
This EP is an example of a label trying to get some quick cash...not very good.
Trivium The Crusade
The major problem with this album is that Trivium is trying to be Metallica so badly, and it's so obvious, that they've sacrificed aspects of their music that shined on their previous releases, such as harsh vocals and more technical guitars.

2.0 poor
DragonForce Ultra Beatdown
DragonForce is one of those groups who's records could have one song, and I wouldn't even notice the difference. These tracks bleed into each other, and while it may have worked on "Inhuman Rampage", It has lost it's luster and become repetitive. Not recommended.
Protest the Hero Sequoia Throne: Remixed
This remix not only is a waste of money, but sums up why metal songs should hardly ever be remixed.
Serj Tankian Elect The Dead Symphony
While the idea of this album is neat, the symphony seems to take away from the tracks, adding unnecessary sections to the songs. I personally would have preferred a real live album without the orchestra...this one is just disappointing...I guess what works for Metallica (on S&M) doesn't work for everyone. On the bright side, Serj's voice sounds fantastic throughout the album.
The Human Abstract Midheaven
One of the worst metalcore albums ever released. The lyrics are juvenile, the vocals are whiny, and the guitars have lost all technical aspects. Very poor album.

1.5 very poor
Mudvayne The New Game
"The New Game" is an album that shouldn't exist. Gimmicky only begins to describe the concept of the album, while the tracks themselves have poorly written lyrics, and vocals that are laboriously emoted. The track "Dull Boy" is the only shining point on this one, and that track can be acquired on "By The People, For the People". Even worse, the deluxe edition comes with no extra content (no extra tracks OR DVD). Avoid this one.

1.0 awful
Serj Tankian Imperfect Harmonies
Serj's "Imperfect Harmonies" is an example of an experiment gone terribly wrong. The lyrics, and songs are disorganized, and leave the listener wondering what they're listening to. The orchestral sections are out of place, and lend nothing to the tracks, which could have been better with a simpler feel.
