The lyrical mind of Barry Donegan has become lazy it seems. Controversial issues are no longer masked by clever wording and indecipherable vocals. You may like this, you may not. Whenever I bought a LWID album, the treat for me was reaching the end and listening to the next chapter of Zanzibar. Unfortunately, Loow What I Did has abandoned this tradition in only their third album. (In a former interview it was mentioned that there would be 10 chapters of Zanzibar.) I have thoroughly enjoyed "Six Flags Over Jesus" since it was merely the demo, "Clearing the Temple". "My girlfriend, Leo Strauss" and "Quit it" are also very good songs. I must've listened to "fade to daft" 20 times and I still can't make myself like it. The other songs seem to grow on you in moderation., but never to the point of actually liking it. I was terribly disappointed with this album. I still support the band, but I think my musical tastes have shifted one way and their musical direction has shifted the other since the last album. I think the album is too trendy to stand the test of time. Make your own decision. Buy it, download it, whatever. It might be the madness you're looking for.
