One of the best hip-hop albums of all time !!!
It's just like Jay-Z says in the intro: "that's underground hip hop the richness of the music and everything I know is gonna be somet'n serious "
it also sounds good LIVE (not a thing you can say about many rap artists except The (legendary) Roots), kick ass bass lines (just give Red to Black a listen) and lyrics on Remember The Name or Right Now are unstoppable !!!
good music & good sound --> classic
Jay-Z American Gangster
John Frusciante The Empyrean
The songs are so smooth
whenever I want to think about anything I listen to this record
the feeling it provides is ... well no words for that
Frusciante, psychedelic, EPIC
John Frusciante Inside of Emptiness
Red Hot Chili Peppers Mother's Milk
Red Hot Chili Peppers Blood Sugar Sex Magik
Red Hot Chili Peppers Stadium Arcadium
MARS - best album ever - EVER !!!
Don't get me wrong - RHCP never made a bad song (not even one which is quite amazing having recorded so many) I love all of their albums especially the third. Many say this record is too main stream but I think it blends all of their previous work in two kick ass albums!
As Rick Rubin said "I can't think of any other musicians that are better than them" (iTunes originals)
There are funky bass lines, calmer songs, even two partly acoustic tracks and I LOVE the guitar work on this album even if Frusciante doesn't stick to his less is more style all the time.
About the main stream part: It's surely a record appealing to a wider audience but does that make it worse??
In the core they stickt to their style and Flea himself said that "In our hearts we are all suckers for a beautiful melody" (sorry forgot bout the source..) which just means that they make the music they love (also see the commentaries on Stadium Arcadium from the SA DVD)
The bass line on "She looks to me" is one of my favourites =)
There's a lot more to say but I think you should give it a listen and see for yourself -
all I really have to say is that this record shows how much these guys LOVE MUSIC
Red Hot Chili Peppers Live in Hyde Park
Red Hot Chili Peppers Greatest Hits
Red Hot Chili Peppers Californication
Red Hot Chili Peppers Live at Slane Castle
Never watched a DVD more times than this it never grows old!
EPIC
Red Hot Chili Peppers By the Way
Red Hot Chili Peppers The Uplift Mofo Party Plan
Red Hot Chili Peppers Freaky Styley
if you ask me one of their best efforts ever
really unique mixture of punk rock and funk
the rhythm reveals that these guys have been soooo full of energy they could burn any stage just by playing music on it - honestly: any album that starts with a bass line as powerful as Jungle Man cannot be bad, also mind Yertle the Tertle - very different to their recent material but just a lovely tune and of course listen to the message that American Ghost Dance or Hollywood (Africa) bring to your ears with rhythm and a lot of passion
If you want to listen to love incorporated in music then you should always mind the Peppers!
The Roots Phrenology
Thrice Beggars
Well what can I say this is a superb record
The band is great and so is their live sound
Songs like "The Weight" - one of the best love songs of all time!
or "Exile" make you want to listen to the album over and over again
There are no weak moments on this album so give it a listen - NOW!

4.5 superb

4.0 excellent
Gym Class Heroes The Quilt
Gym Class Heroes The Papercut Chronicles
Nada Surf Lucky
I'm not their biggest fan but this record has some solid tracks and many superb chill out melodies!
This is one of those albums you can just listen to as a whole without getting bored. The feeling it provides makes
you get lost in your thoughts yet it is light and relaxing.
The most creative song on the record would be "The Fox" but my favourite track is "Whose Authority", a song that
has everything I mentioned above, it is so light and cheerful but still makes you wonder about some things and long
for freedom: "On whose authority, I have none over me" that's a great line! So all in all it's a very calm but a good
album that one might enjoy on a quiet evening alone
The Kooks Inside In/Inside Out

3.0 good
