Pixies Doolittle
When I was 12 I was just a young man with too many records on my shelf. So, i needed arranging for new collections. I already had Surfer Rosa which was a great record. I wanted to keep it on. Having seen The Pixes loads of times from shows in Brixton to their reunion shows, I still think there was gold from a specific record of their's, entitled Doolittle. This is no walk in the park, and we experience many subjects form whores, biblical imagery, vampires, death and surreal stories.

1. DEBASER- We kick in to the dream album opener: one which opening lines get you hooked: "Got me a movie i want you to know," Frank Black screams, and on that subject, a scream half chorus of "Chien!" Which is a reference to the surreal film that inspired the song. The bass line makes it worthwhile, and i definetely get the chills when they play this live. 5/5
2. TAME- After a hell of a track, we enter to a simple yet mindblowing bassline by Kim Deal. You assume after a Debaser, Frank would whisper the whole time. Enter the chorus: TAAAAAME! Ok. Well, that was interesting. In fact, it's really no wonder how Kurt Cobain would be influenced by this band. The song makes me jump today, and that's 21 years since I bought it. 5/5
3. WAVE OF MUTILATION- Antoher quick beauty. Frank Black shows off his imagination, as he describes the pleasure of getting rode on a wave to be washed up by sea, on a "wave of mutilation"(!) Joey Santiago's intro is great, along with David Lovering's hardhitting drums. A short and sweet song. 5/5
4. I BLEED- I enhaled in and out of the best 3 order of tracks I've ever heard. Now, I hear the best bassline. After that, I'm in the mood again. I hear the creepy and lovely melody between Kim and Frank, while Joey Santiago gives us a creepy guitar line. Cold to the touch, this track freezes me coz of it's ora. 5/5
5. HERE COMES YOUR MAN- The A strum. Then, a 60's sounding tune which will get you dreaming of peacefulness. I mean, after a song about vampires, how about a song about a hobo and his dog(yeah, it's actually about that)? With a humouress video with mouths open and typical 80's crowd looks, the song is a beauty and remains one of their signature hits. 5/5
6. DEAD- Oh, yeah. Now we're REALLY getting bad ass now. Now, this is where biblical imagery comes in; in the old testament, a king saw a girl called Sheiba naked on a roof, and he wants to marry her, however she is married to a soldier called Yuiya. So, what does he do? Send him to the frontline. In which he gets killed ("Yuiya hit the crapper, the crapper"), we hear Joey Santiago's up and down guitar, Frank's rhythm, Kim's thick bassline and David's tribal drums. Great rack ,andalthough it isn't so mmorable, is still great fun to listen to. 4/5
7. MONKEY- Now, this is an environmental song. Involving sludge, holes in the sky, glodal warming and mnkeys going into space. Then, more biblical imagery in Frank's interesting lyrics, "If man is five, then the devil is six, and if the devil is six, then God is seven! This moneky's gone to heaven." The front sleeve is definitely a reference to the song, and so it should. MMonkey is a signature track. Rock me, Joe! 5/5
8. MR GRIEVES- An interesting song, and comes straight in with Frank saying, "I hope eveything's alright." Then, he oges on how the road may indeed come to an ned, with references to Neptuna's daughter washed up. If cool, it is a bit repetitive at times on listen. 4.2/5
9. CRACKITY JONES- A fast, wild, random, funny song, and loud! And only 1:24. That's the only downside, as the rest is write up your street if your mind's ***ed up, of course it's mine! So, basically Frank Black talking about this guy who wants to kill himself. Ok, no more comments. 4.5/5
10. LA LA LOVE YOU- A loop no-one can get enough of at all. A wolf whistle, I Love You, Dave singing, then repeats. Whoa. What makes it better are the live versions with Joe's shiny Gibson cherry semi-acoustic and Kim Deal's fender jazz bass with a loop which is upbeat. Hats off to Dave for the singing. 5/5
11. NO 13 BABY- Hre comes a song not really in Pixies' repetra, as it's structure is quite unlikely. Normally it would be short but it's quite long. With references to girls and tattoo's, on of the best songs, with the best outro ever, and even fading out, very different.
12. THERE GOES MY GUN- This song is quite repetitive, and is basically Kim and Frank talkign about losing their guns. And I think that this should've been left out of the album. 3/5
13. HEY- HEY! Been tryin' to meet you. Mmm. OMG. Best ever opening. Gets you straight in immediately, especially with it's references to whores, cheating and being in love. With Joey's solo which is very mournful, I soon find myself on a different world, where they were playing big arenas and U2 were playing little clubs in Ireland. 5/5
14. SILVER- Well, it's interesting poetry, with interesting words. I can't really say much though...3/5
15. GOUGE AWAY- The best song on the album without a doubt. The best album closer ever. With the story of Samson and Delilah the main focus, all members show their loudQUIETloud signature. With a modern retelling, and a very cool bassline, I consider this song to be graced as one of the best in recet memory as far as i'm concerned. Whenever they play this I go nuts and sing along to every word in that song. A gem which shoudl be celebrated throughout the land.

Clearly the best album ever made next to Pixie's Doolittle. All songs just take you to where no one's ever been before.
