They are pre-occupied with groove and making the lyrics epic that they tend to overdo it. There is not enough of their previous Absolution-era storytelling or single-mindedness in songs. Guiding Light is painfully soppy and pales in comparison to their previous ballads, even ones such as Invincible. Come on Matt, The Resistance is okay but you can do much better. Big up on the awesome symphony at the end, but we need it to be more experimental and less pretentious in the greater part of the album.
