Bathory Blood Fire Death
Between the Buried and Me Colors

Death The Sound of Perseverance

3 listens in and I keep finding things I love about it. Most over-the-top, overwhelming, beautiful, chaotic cavalcade of music I've experienced in a loooong time.

After much debate, I've decided to bump this to a 5. It deserves it. More so because I don't think we'll hear another from this group. This album truly is one of the best of the decade.

4.5 superb

Amorphis Tales from the Thousand Lakes
Amorphis Elegy
Arghoslent Hornets of the Pogrom
Arsis A Diamond for Disease

I HAD to check out this band after seeing them list themselves as a "Space Death Metal" band, with a
hometown listing of "Fucking Space." As far as sound? Gorguts having buttsex with Blut Aus Nord. That spawn
child fucked an Immolation/Deathspell Omega mutant baby and then that new Gorguts-nord Immospell
Omega mutant fish frog laid an egg, which fell through a black hole in space and resulted in the album
presented in front of you.

I'm very hesitant to give out fives (those are left for the classics such as Dark side of the moon). But fucking balls, this is incredible.

Airy, ethereal, technical, relentless, progressive - this album really solidifies Fallujah's place in the modern death metal scene.

Mind's Eye A Gentleman's Hurricane
What an excellent album. Seriously one of the best prog metal albums of this century. The only thing holding it from a 5 is the fact that the concept lacks cohesiveness and the fact that there's merely one song on the album I wouldn't say is a 10/10.

It's the album I WANTED to hear from these guys. It's exactly what I wanted their sound to somehow evolve into. A nice mix of post-metal, tech metal, jazz, and etc. Much less dweedly doo's and more concise, well-structured songs.

Honestly out of all the prog rock albums I've heard this year... this one MAY be the best. If youre a fan of prog in any sort of fashion, definitely get on this. They DO NOT disappoint. Think a modern Gabriel-era Genesis, Yes, Rush... you get the point.

Cynic Re-Traced
I, like many, had NO Idea what to expect with this new Cynic EP. Given my tastes for genres other than metal, this EP really caught my attention. Cynic really threw me off guard, in a good way. If you're a metal purist 1. You probably don't like Cynic to begin with and 2. You probably won't like this album. It's a melting pot of genres and different styles of music, almost demanding you to listen more than once. I would've liked more from these guys, but with these captivating interpretations and a new song (Wheels within wheels), what self-proclaiming Cynic fan could be THAT disappointed?

Obviously going to upset some of the "HUR DURR HOW DARE A BAND DO WHAT THEY DESIRE INSTEAD OF WHAT I WANT" camp of sputnik. This isn't the first time Cynic has released a more experimental album after a (retrospectively) more successful effort (see: Portal tapes). There are some real gems on here and some not-as-good songs, but nowhere NEAR as bad as some on this site are describing it.
