And I've found that every time HIL releases a new album there's even more substance and creativity under the surface than the last. I become more obsessed with them with every single listen because every time something new strikes me and I realize how subtly advanced the things they're doing are. It's pretty obvious that the vast majority of people hate the direction HIL has taken since IAH and they've been criticized for alienating audiences and I've concluded that the reason behind this is that they've gradually outgrown the audience they initially attracted that just doesn't get it anymore. All the beautiful nuances from IAM that were so universally hailed are still there, they're just so much more subtle and cultured. Also, that the members of HIL, really don't care if anyone gets it our not. They're making music that is fantastic on a level that's so far over the heads of the masses and they know it and that's all that matters.
