Manchester Orchestra Mean Everything to Nothing
Can you say masterpiece? This album from production to arrangement and lyrics is a classic album. Manchester Orchestra stepped it up so much on this album, the intensity and diversity of this album is ahead of its time. I will be enjoying this for many years to come.
mewithoutYou Catch For Us the Foxes
This album will be listened to for years to come. This is possible on of the best displays of post-hardcore. The album is fierce and beautiful with many dynamics in it. It takes you on a journey and leaves you wanting more at the end (aka put this album on repeat please). The production is thick, punchy, and beautiful. Classic Album, hands down.
Norma Jean Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child
Classic album at the perfect time. Many people knock this album because of its Botch references but O'God was far more a rip off than this. This is a perfect album and really showcase Josh and his chaotic-ness. The production is punchy and raw. Defiantly an album that will be jammed for many years, so many good tunes on this album.
O'Brother Garden Window
Portugal. The Man Waiter: ''You Vultures!''
Portugal. The Man really broke the mold with their debut album. When i first bought it years ago i had never heard anything like it. It was catchy, well put together, strange and fresh. This album continues to influence artist today. Classic album!

Finally a return to their roots, they do a great job of mixing their first album and their second album to make one great album. Green pushing the envelope vocally and the music just rocks. Lastly, the hooks just get me and stay in my head~!

Eisley The Valley
It is really hard to find things that i do not like about this album. It may to some be a typical Eisley album, but the music has matured and gotten tighter over the years. I enjoy this album a lot. The production as always is top notch, which really allow the clean crisp sound of haunting pretty vocals, great guitar work, good piano, and some of that indie rock drums, really just shine. I won't be putting this down for a while.

Underoath Ø (Disambiguation)
I think this album was very well done, and a new fresh change from the Underoath of old. Adding Daniel really helps channel a new sound that i think Underoath really has been wanting to do for a while. There are less hooks and the album is a bit short

Andrew Bird Things Are Really Great Here, Sort Of...
Aphex Twin Drukqs

Armor For Sleep What To Do When You Are Dead
This album though often put into the emo genre is well put together and very easy to listen to. They did a great job of messing passion and song writing. toward the end of the album it does seem to trail off in its intensity and passion, as well as catchiness. Overall it gets a 4 for a good solid release and high replay value.

Gideon Costs
Gideon is a newer Christian Hardcore band that i am just becoming more of a fan from listening to their new album Costs released via Facedown Records. They have been listed on AP’s Top 100 bands to watch list for this year (2011). Their new album is in the vein of Stick To Your Guns and The Ghost Inside, which is not a bad thing by any means. You will catch your head bobbing up and down to their break beats and break downs. They do a great job of mixing punchy hardcore, hard hitting breakdowns, melodic riffs and some good singing. This overall is an amazing album but by no means is a masterpiece. It is a solid debut for Gideon, that will keep fans looking forward to what is to come. In addition it is a short album (9 tracks, 8 full songs) but it does please the ears and has decent replay value.
Gojira L'Enfant Sauvage
A great aggressive album that doesn't stop until the end. Gojira does a great job of keeping the listener interested but it does get a little thin in parts. The production is cold but well done and it works for this style or metal. I love this album, one of the best this year.
Hundredth When Will We Surrender
Gahh, I can't get enough of this album, they do a great job of being Melodic Hardcore, keeping some punk roots there and blazing with some post-rock elements. These guys are really talented.
Intervals A Voice Within
Ivan and Alyosha It's All Just Pretend
Jack White Lazaretto
John Givez Soul Rebel
Kendrick Lamar To Pimp a Butterfly
Lecrae Rehab The Overdose
Very good follow up to Rehab. I like the Overdose a lot more than Rehab. The production is much better and i enjoy hearing more of Lecrae and less of featured artists. Some of my favorite tracks over all are on Rehab but overall this is album is much more cohesive than Rehab.
Listener Wooden Heart
Listener has come so far from their beginning, i personally have been re-discovering their
earlier albums and love the soul in them. Wooden Heart is one of the most impressive albums
of the year, well done Dan.
Little Chief Lion's Den
Lovedrug Notions
Madeon Adventure
Marksmen Sister of Mine
Marksmen have created an emotional soundtrack to life that takes its for in an excellently intense album. There is a clear restraint in the songs on Sister of Mine, which keeps it driving and passionate without going crazy. They exhibit mature songcraftsmenship. I look forward to this Tampa four-piece, and more great music to come.

Periphery Periphery
I had been waiting for this album to come out for a while. A good poly-rhythmic metal album that keeps me interested, and that has great production. I give this album a 4 because at times the vocals get on my nerves, he is good but not great.

Shai Hulud Misanthropy Pure
I think Shai Hulud has well deserved a 4.0 rating on this record. I am glad they came back, but this album refreshing the metalcore genre again. Crossing a metal and hardcore feel with some progressive guitar licks makes me happy! They stick to what they do best and the new vocalist KILLS! I won't be putting this album down for a while.

The Chariot Long Live
LONG LIVE: love this album, its unique and different, yet very Chariot. They seem to just flow on this album, Its my favorite since their debut. I hope they continue to go in this direction, but i would like to see a longer album next time.
The Dead Weather Horehound
The Dead Weather Dodge & Burn
The Dear Hunter Act IV: Rebirth in Reprise
The Dillinger Escape Plan Ire Works
The Famine The Architects of Guilt
The Architects of Guilt hit you hard and fast. Starting with their screech-and-growl vocals
from their new vocalist Nick, he has great range. Adding a second guitarist on this album
helps a lot, the riffs are catchy with some great solos tucked in there, not to mention the
great amount of chuggs that are not like that high school/hot topic crap you get from bands
now days. Last but not least the drums are relentless Mark's drumming has gotten a lot
better, its really impressive on this album. Overall this is an excellent album, despite
some people saying its a BDM rip-off, either way they have their own spin, and it is still a
great album (remember everyone is ripping of somebody at some point whether they know it or
not.) SICK ALBUM!!!!
The Gaslight Anthem Handwritten
The Gaslight Anthem Get Hurt
The Helio Sequence The Helio Sequence
The Horrible Crowes Elsie
a lighter version of The Gaslight Anthem, i can dig this. I think this album is done very well and is extremely catchy!
The Human Abstract Digital Veil
Finally the return of The Human Abstract, such a solid album. I am really impressed by the writing, vocals production, and technical guitar work. The only thing that really down plays from being such a classic album is the length of the album, its really kinda short for a full length. Overall BALLER!
The Jealous Sound A Gentle Reminder
After 9 years of waiting i am extremley pleased with this album. They pick up right where they left off. There are a few things I don't enjoy too much: (1) the back ground vocals on the last track, not a huge fan of, it sounds like Gaslight Anthem and (2) there are a few moments on tracks where there is a lot going on and you lose some of the quality and can't hear everything well. Overall 4 out 5 stamp for me!
The Kindred Lore
The Reign of Kindo This Is What Happens
The Roots How I Got Over
The Walkmen Lisbon
The Walkmen has always been a band that i have enjoyed but they really expand their talents on Lisbon. I am refreshed by their solid indie rock on this album, from start to finish its beautiful and driving. It keeps your attention. The production is flawless which is key for me. Great album, I will be listening to this for many years to come.
The White Stripes Icky Thump
Thievery Corporation The Richest Man in Babylon
Those Who Fear Death Sentence
Thursday Full Collapse
Tiny Moving Parts Pleasant Living
Turnover Peripheral Vision
Venia Frozen Hands
you can instantly tell the band has matured quite a bit in their sound with a heavier cleaner more precise sound. The music is a bit faster and heavier than their freshman release.
Young Widows Easy Pain
Your Memorial Atonement
Your Memorial = successful debut album. It mixes a lot of different elements and defiantly channels some Misery Signals, which i love. The lyrics are profound and gospel centered without being cheesy and redundant.

3.5 great
Andrew Bird Break It Yourself
August Burns Red Leveler
Amazing album so pleased they are moving further and starting to transcend their genre. It will be nice to see the direction they go next, but until then ill jam the crap out of this!!!

Foo Fighters In Your Honor
Four Year Strong Enemy of the World
They did a great job upping the production, but i think at some moments it loses the raw-ness of their debut album. This is a great album to jam out to and sing along with, but i think they are losing their Hardcore edge and getting a little bit more pop. Great album, just not what i was expecting. Long Live Four Year Strong!
Glass Cloud The Royal Thousand
Glen Hansard Didn't He Ramble
Godspeed You! Black Emperor 'Asunder, Sweet and Other Distress'
Hands (US-ND) Creator
This was a surprisingly great album, the only weak point to me is the vocals don't seem to be smooth enough, they are a little rough for the style that these guys are going for, probably a more Misery Signals style vocals would fit perfect. love this album.
Hop Along Get Disowned
Hotel Books Run Wild, Young Beauty
I, the Breather These Are My Sins
I The Breather, does a wonderful job of breakdowns and heartfelt vocals. This band or album is nothing totally new that it defines the genre, but it does push itself away from many of the bands that just wanna be like August Burns Red. The lyrics are very inspirational Christian lyrics, but not cheesy to where you wanna turn it off. This album has something for everyone. There are some similarities between ABR and ITB, but far too many difference that you can defiantly distinguish from the two. This album is great for breakdowns, long drives that you need to stay awake, or something to clean your house to and punch walls.
It Prevails Capture & Embrace
Great album full of catchy riffs and great breakdowns. Wish there was more melodic hardcore out there like this.
Jack White Blunderbuss
La Dispute Rooms of the House
Lakes Photographs
Lead Hands Lead Hands
Great Post-Hardcore album, brings back the goodness of this genre. Over all the production is well done, and i enjoy the screams not being whinny and emo-esc. I think decoder is onto something here. It in no was is boring, but does at times lack some catchy-ness, or memorable moments. Worth buying.
Mastodon Once More 'Round the Sun
Maybeshewill Fair Youth
Misery Signals Of Malice and the Magnum Heart
Misery Signals Absent Light
Monuments (UK) The Amanuensis
Mumford and Sons Sigh No More
There was soo much hype around this album, and yes this is a great album, but thats just it, its great and nothing more. They do a great job of making indie folk/bluegrass mainstream. I love the banjo work throughout the album, its there and you notice it but its not the only thing you notice. Also it just has some good jams that are perfect for driving around town on a winter day.
Mutemath Armistice
My Epic Yet
This is a great step in the right direction, i love the intensity and heart behind the songs. I think at some points it gets a little bland, and needed a little more spice. Its a great album, and stoked to hear more from them in the future.

Stories (AUS) The Youth to Become
The Decemberists What A Terrible World, What A Beautiful World
The Dillinger Escape Plan Calculating Infinity
The Elijah I Loved I Hated I Destroyed I Created
The Elijah are full or orchestral style guitars and emotion, pick up this album for screaming that makes you cry and guitars that make you punch stuff. A well done album, but it does get dull and redundant, next time throw in some variety and you might just get to a perfect album Elijah.

Great stinking album. I feel like they up-ed the production and lost some of the raw feel that was on their debut, but i kinda don't care. There are so many catchy hooks that i can't get the songs out of my head. I understand why so many people have this album on their top for 2010, it truly is a great album.

As Enemies Arise Chapters
As Enemies Arise have a lot of talent, they just need to tap into it more and showcase it. Their debut full length Chapters has a lot to offer, but is not much different than a lot out there. They sound like a European Ghost Inside, which isnt bad, I love The Ghost Inside, but they need to push away from the normal and go hard (not in harder music wise). Chapters is good, but not great, worth a head bob and a chest pump, but no crazy screaming! They show promise.
As I Lay Dying Awakened
Well As I Lay Dying paved the way for metalcore today and it is great that they are still at it. This album has some great moments that will get your head bobbing and your fist pumping. Tim does a great job of mixing up the different style of vocals, and the guitars are thrashing away. But the production gets a little weak, it seems like the guitars over power the drums at times and it takes away from the overall feel of the album. It is a good album, nothing ground breaking but well done and work 3 out of 5.
As They Sleep Dynasty
This is a very good album, but i would not call it great. The production level is great! Its a very fast, hard hitting, death metal album. In the vain of Black Dahlia Murder for Christians. I saw these guys a few months ago and they were tight live to. I enjoy this album a lot, but i think the overall replay value is going to be low, it will soon lose its luster in a few years, with another Solid State metal release. Good Album.
Coldplay Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends
Coldplay Mylo Xyloto
Conveyer No Future
Not the best and not the worst melodic hardcore album ever written, but it does strike a nice chord with me this year. It sounds like a throwback to mid-2000's melodic hardcore, which makes my heart happy.

Maybe ill change this later after listening to it again in a few weeks.

Wolves at the Gate We Are the Ones
Wolves At The Gate have something here, id like to see them expand their talent, but this EP is pretty good. It is well produced and the lyrics are not cheesy. The music over all is nothing new to this genre, but it does get my head moving.

2.5 average
Andrew Bird Music Of Hair
Andrew Bird Hands of Glory
August Burns Red Rescue & Restore
Before There Was Rosalyn The Fuhrer: An Allegory of a History of Deception
Average metalcore at best. Nothing special about this album. I only found my head grooving just a few times. They do nothing new or ground breaking. I dont know if they do anything well at all... the vocals are gross....
Close To Home Never Back Down
The problem with Close To Home is they really just try too hard. This is another A Day To Remember wanna be, and they aren't being much. It is really inconsistent, i was hoping for a good real release from these guys, but i guess that dream was shot down, but crappy breakdowns...Close To Home, go all the way home please. Not worth buying...
Colossus (SD) Badlands
Comeback Kid Die Knowing
Corpus Christi The Darker Shades Of White
Some of the most generic Christian metalcore i have ever heard. There is not much in this album that saves it from getting a Poor rating. I think the only thing that does is there are a few catchy songs and some decent solo's. Other than that its just a waste of time, and i dislike to say that, but its true.

There are a few good tunes on this album, this was kinda awesome when i came out and i remember finding these guys on purevolume and being like "omg like breakdowns' (freshman year). The overall thing you can say about this is it has nostalgia value, but the musicianship is horrible. The few good tunes does not save this album, its just average.

Just Average. I was not very impressed at all by this album, it seems to have no defining tracks. Nothing stood out to me, seems very mono tone, and poorly written. Extremely disappointing i think sums up what this album was. They became over produced and just like every other band out there.
