Wow! Since "The System Has Failed", Dave Mustaine has slowly been moving back into the realm of Thrash, dabbling with it on a few songs on the previous two albums.
Mustaine just downshifted and accelerated into the Thrash fastlane with this last release. Everything finally came together, and a sound similar to that of "So Far...So Good...So What?" through "Countdown to Extinction" is played.
I for one am extremely happy with this return to roots.
