Metallica Metallica
The Famous and Infamous "Black Album" is the first step Metallica took to becoming mainstream. Is it Thrash Metal? No. Is it sure as hell worth your time? Yes. The Black Album as some call it holds some incredible songs from Metallica's arsenal. From the slow beat of "Nothing Else Matters" to the speed of "Of Wolf and Man," The Black Album offers a wide listening range for die-hard Metallica fans and new listeners alike.

The album itself is nothing less than legendary. Between controversy and the withering fan-base alike, Metallica tried something new: and managed to pull it off. Although, The Black Album is a HUGE change from earlier Metallica discography. From the speed of "Master of Puppets" and "Ride the Lightning" to the sorrow and energy put into "...And Justice for All" and "Kill 'em All" (Also called Metal up your ass). Some compare the Black Album to bands like "Duran Duran" because Metallica went mainstream. But Metallica, among other Metal bands, were living on a changing music scene and when the "Grunge Rush" went into effect, Metallica had to try a different approach. The Black Album holds twelve tracks, including "Enter Sandman," "Sad but True," "Holier than Thou," "The Unforgiven," "Wherever I May Roam," "Don't Tread on Me," "Through the Never," "Nothing Else Matters," "Through the Never," "Of Wolf and Man," "The God that Failed," "My Friend of Misery" and "The Struggle Within." All of these tracks are great but if you have to listen to ANY of them I suggest: Enter Sandman, Sad But True, The Unforgiven, Wherever I May Roam, Nothing Else Matters, and Of Wolf and Man. If you're looking for a huge radio track, go straight to Enter Sandman and The Unforgiven. If you're looking for something familiar, go to Don't Tread on Me and Of Wolf and Man.

My personal opinion on this album is that it's no MoP, but it sure as hell delivers. If you have an extra hour and a half on your hands, check this album out if you havent already.

Suggested Listening:
Enter Sandman
Sad But True
The Unforgiven
The God that Failed
Wherever I May Roam
Of Wolf and Man
Don't Tread on Me
