Spam Allstars Electrodomesticos
Miami with its various cultures all living on top of each other in the chilly shadow of the Estefans, the Spam Allstars have been defining Miami's sound. With DJ Le Spam at the helm, they create a danceable fusion of salsa, funk, jazz and electronica (with a dash of freestyle booty bass). This might sound scary but it isn't. Imagine if you will, DJ Le Spam at the decks spinning vintage beats and hooks (Spam is known for having the most extensive salsa and funk vinyl collection in this hemisphere) with a full live band in front of him. On "Electrodomesticos", the Spam Allstars hold firm to their funky ways and shake it up a bit with guest appearances by legendary jazz musician, Pee Wee Ellis and Grammy-award nominee Jose Elias on the tres.
The jam band scene really seem to dig the Spam Allstars (might have something to do with the time when they collaborated with Vida Blue, the side-project of Phish keyboardist Page McConnell) , but their natural setting is among the b-boys, graffers and for some reason, yoga enthusists. Maybe it's because you need to have limber joints to properly get down with them. www.spamallstars.com
