What may be only 4 songs to you are 4 of the best songs in Dillinger's entire catagory. It's even balance of Mike Patton's genius, and Dillinger's spastic mathcore.

Admittedly I'am a huge lover of the ocean (no it is not "gay"). And this album manages to channel that sound into a metal perspective perfectly, this gets a 5 from me easily.

The new direction is back, and strong as it's ever been. Darkthrone has struck the chord with me that most black metal bands normally fail to do, in fact calling this album black metal is truly not the case. As it more at times resemble an old Megadeth record, or old Crowbar album. An open mind can do wonders, if you have one.

The best crust punk/metal hybrid out there. This album is a pure work of brutal art. Everything from lyrics to crushing instrumentals to aggrssive vocals. I'd reccomend this to anyone with a taste for metal.
Electric Wizard Dopethrone
The only album I have heard from these guys, and this is sheer proof that drugs might actually be a good thing. This has some of the best riffs I've heard in a long while (and I've taken a listen to High on Fire). Whisky, mary jane, that one metal chick you'd love to bang until she's all worn out, and BALLS in a nice manly and trippy experience.

Call me the biggest loser since every loser in loser existence got in a big loser orgy, but this album rocks my socks. I can honestly say that it's been a long, long time since I've heard a band with THIS much potential. With a few years time, I can possibly see them becoming one of my favorite bands. It's possibly because they just simply do everything right, and they happen to strike the nerd chord deep within me, but few bands can pull off what these fine fellows seem to do effortlessly.

Not a real fan of the whole "goth rock" type of thing, most of the bands try to be too brooding for their own good, but occasionally there comes a band within the genre that manages to make good music. Type O Negative is like the father of all of those bands, every song manages to be catchy, dark, while all the while making it seem like actual adults and not a bunch of dudes wearing "guyliner". This is arguably the group's finest album, it's full of catchy hooks reminiscent of Danzig. An awesome album, that's worth your attention.

The CD is actually quite poor, and the quality is fairly terrible. But the live DVD manages to save this package, the quality is MUCH better then the CD and is packed with quite the bit of intensity. Plus even if you hate the band you get to see Mat's head smashed open.

Now I've more then stated I'm usually not a fan of Black Metal. It's a alright genre that has it's occasional great band that intrigues me (i.e: Darkthrone, Cobalt). FACT tries to create a followup, but it seems like they're playing it safe. However that doesn't mean this album isn't full of surprises.
FACT Never Turn Out The Light To Keep Myself
This was FACT before they started to introduce themselves to America. It's a mostly a post-hardcore album with elements of metal, pop punk, and a touch of nintendocore. It's nothing like their self-titled, but it's still a fine album, by a fine band.
Failure Magnified
Fair to Midland Fables From a Mayfly: What I Tell You Three Times is True
The band's "heavy" moments are the only thing that I can see wrong with this album, they're mostly uncalled for, and actually offputting. Other then that it's an oringinal album, by an ambitious band, which is very much welcome in this day of generic "bad boys with a soft side" bands.

The band takes more of an influence cue from De La Soul this time around, instead of the dark, weird world that was Demon Days the virtual group opens up to the lighter side of things, and it manages to be an upbeat catchy listen with tons of tunes that'll be stuck in your head for days.
Graf Orlock Destination Time: Today
Hatebreed Hatebreed
Hatebreed's most concentrated work to date. Half of the album shows off the band's new found appreciation of metal with almost metalcore qualifying songs, and thrash inspired instrumentals. The other half shows some of the metallic hardcore that we're all used to, in fact showing off moments of just straight-up hardcore punk. Hatebreed's finest album by far, and for once, I'm actually starting to get why this band is so loved.

P.O.S Never Better
This has to be the best hip-hop album I've heard in a long, long time. Each track is diverse, yet never straying too far from his signature style. P.O.S. gives fast, strong, powerful, raps with powerful singing and screaming peppered in from time to time. The lyrics provoke thought and emotion better then ever, and he delivers them beautifully, P.O.S. is truly a force to be reckoned with not only in the hip-hop community, but in the entire music industry.

Now you may read this and think "troll?" and I wouldn't blame you on an initial read. I too was skeptical of this album (I mean...just take a look at the newest Parkway Drive ratings). But one listen in....and I'm impressed, everything has been fine tuned and improved upon and almost everyway. This is easily some of the finest "melodicore" there is around. Probably going to review this sometime, but for now just listen and hopefully you won't be disappointed.

You know that girl in your class who's had sex with every guy, and nobody really wants her anymore. That girl, my friend is metalcore, but This or the Apocalypse is metalcore's twin sister while being attractive as she was once before, isn't a whore, and has a few surprises that intrigues men for miles on end.

Veil of Maya The Common Man's Collapse
Veil of Maya [id]
Veil of Maya manage to improve upon everything that has plagued them in the past, they manage to improve their riffage, and the vocalist has improved his chops. The band also seems to have taken cue from The Faceless and has added a nice Sci-Fi atmosphere to most songs. The only problem I see with the album is there are still too many breakdowns, and they actually kill the groove every once in a while.

As I Lay Dying The Powerless Rise
Now a lot of people are calling this the "metalcore release of 010' ", while that's a bit of a stretch it does mean that there's a lot of hype to this album, but that's not to say every As I Lay Dying album has been hyped. The band's years of mediocrity appears to have been lifted in the meantime as they manage to soar beyond and into the above average category. The cleans are as tight as they've been in the past and still executed well, while the gruff rough vocals have really been stepped up. The album continues with the thrash influence except it isn't nearly as dull or as boring as it has been in the past. If you've been wanting to know As I Lay Dying's best album, it's easily The Powerless Rise.

My friend told me to check this album out, and I got to admit it's pretty damn short for a doom metal album. However if you need something to quench your thirst for good ol' fashion doom metal, this is one heck of an album to do the job.
Bears and Bright Lights Bears and Bright Lights
Beastie Boys Check Your Head
Beg For Life Doomed
A successful nod to the old days of hardcore, a day back when there weren't constant breakdowns, and a band could be honest while seeming to have testicles. Indeed this an album for any hardcore, or even any metal or punk fan for that matter.

It's damn brutal, that's to be sure. However upon listening to it a couple times, you begin to notice some recycled riffs, however the vocalist does command a lot of power behind his growl, but doesn't do much to switch things up, and often comes off as nonsensical bellows.

The Saddest Day was a terrible choice for a first track, not because it's not good, in fact it's too good the rest of the album fails in comparison. Converge was on the rise, and shot near a masterpiece, but simply tried too hard to draw in the listeners, because no matter how good the other tracks are, you'll just skip back to the first to listen to it all again.

There's a lot of good stuff here. Yes there are breakdowns and plenty of them, but I think it's here where it actually helps out with the intensity of the music. Frankie is a capable vocalist, from screamo based spoken vocals, metalcore growls, and deathcore high-based screams, however his lyrics are near atrocious (see "10 Signs You Should Leave").

Epicurean A Consequence of Design
Epicurean is a band that has a lot going for it, absolutely no breakdowns, interesting riffs, and one of the most powerful vocalists in recent metal history. However there are moments on the album that just feel underwhelming, and downright dull. However like it or not "Lithograph" is one hell of a powerful metal song.
Escape the Fate There's No Sympathy for the Dead
Wow...I never imagined it. But I'm actually finding myself to like Escape the Fate (don't get me wrong though, This War is Ours is grade A bullshit). But this is the band's finest release, though sadly I would've never listened to them if my girlfriend didn't FORCE me.

Some better quality would definitely benefit this, it's so quiet half the time I can't really hear the samples, but turn up the volume it's quite a treat from a upcoming band. Jett still has some extremely powerful pipes and this band benefits from that greatly.
Fear Before Odd How People Shake
The only "Fear Before" that has managed to impact me without being annoying to date. That being said I'm getting an almost Glassjaw feel from time to time, while inescapable The Number Twelve Looks Like You comparison still goes strong. A pretty solid release overall.

Haste the Day Pressure the Hinges
I'm not "truly" a fan of Haste the Day, but I do happen to enjoy them from time to time. "Pressure The Hinges" in my book there best album, for it's consistency and added atmosphere. Their new vocalist (name escapes me) manages to interject more melody and some songs do overdo it. However if you ask me, it's a fine metalcore album.

Hatebreed Live Dominance

Here Comes the Kraken The Omen
I have way too much bias for this band, that's a give in. The lyrics while have a nautical theme (which is a plus for me) can get pretty stupid at times, and the musicianship is as tight as deathcore gets. The production does seem worse then their LP, and the vocals suffer from this. However it's pretty enjoyable, but if you want better deathcore then this look at the band's LP, or a lot of other deathcore bands for that matter.

This young band manages to show great diversity all the while maintaining an easy accessible mainstream sound. While "My Calvary" is easily one of their most catchiest songs, and has a slight Nu-Metal feel. "X2" could just as easily appeal to fans of the underground metal scene, and "Explode" even takes cues from R&B while still mixing it with metal (much like Sevendust). A good independent release from an otherwise unknown band.

Better then their last effort, and easily one of the funnest deathcore bands around today. The one thing this band gets right are stepped up however the same problems that plagued the last album arise basically you get more nice instrumentals, and a pretty awesome aggression, but at the same time your getting some seriously dumb lyrics and some songs tend to carry on a bit longer then welcome. However this has to be one of the best deathcore vocalist replacements in recent memory as vocalist Rick's monster growl, destroys the shallow hardcore yell of Jared. Fans of deathcore be sure to check out.

T-Pain Freaknik: The Musical
Essentially a great album, but is plagued by one thing keeping this from being a truly awesome piece of hip-hop....young cash. Never have I heard a single rapper possibly ruin something so great, the part (during the actual program) when Rick Ross takes the mic from Young really makes me question if putting him on the album was intentional. Otherwise T-Pain, Rick Ross, and Snoop Dogg all deliver great, fun parody hip-hop.

It seems to be that as deathcore is slowly dying, it seems to be getting better. They Found Her in Pieces is sort of proof to that while obviously deathcore, they manage to avoid what brings down their peers such as poorly placed breakdowns, bad vocals, and all the like. The band however doesn't do anything new either, but they manage to do everything pretty good for the most part. Also the production is great for a self-released album.

I'm not a fan of the country genre, it's usually downright boring for me, but Darius Rucker (fomerly of Hootie and the Blowfish) vocal performance manages to kick it home. Darius's voice is what saves this album from being another piece of country garbage, his heartfelt performance outweighs most of the bad of this album. Though the occasional strange choice of lyrics and flow manages to make me scratch my head occasionally.

Like it or not I have a weakspot for this album. Though I do agree Consequences and Revenge is a Healthy Motive are superior albums this isn't the disaster it's made out to be. I do admittedly have a weakspot for the main singles "Single and Loving It" & "Zombies Never Think Twice" as they manage to really pull on some emotion. But it isn't without it's flaws the heavy/pop hybrid is odd at times, and the breakdowns are somewhat underwhelming (considering the other two albums manage to make the breakdowns the highlights). Still I'd recommend this album anyday over the usual "eatmewhileimhot".

The female vocals are actually quite nice, as with the keys and melody, but for some odd reason the band seems to struggle and try to be "heavy". This is one band that the metal influence actually brings it down other then making it interesting, the screams are horrible and very annoying, otherwise you'd have a very nice album here.

Let it be known that I used to loathe this band, that's why when the album was released. I didn't bother, however once I did take a listen I realized the band has actually improved a lot. While the focus is heavier a lot of people are turned off by that, I actually prefer it because this singer's cleans are far from the best in the genre. However a few tight songs and this band actually holds promise to me.

Lil Jon Crunk Rock
One day on a lengthy trip my friend happened to pop in Crunk Rock I was worried, but at the same time curious. I do like to listen to "Get Low" from time to time, but most of his other works are....stupid to put it simply. However I will give credit to Lil Jon, he does manage to make good beats, make it catchy, and most importantly make it fun which most of his "crunk" peers seem to inevitably fail at. While there are some slightly rock-tinged tracks, the best seem to be the electronic beat thumpin tracks that ring close to "Get Low" and that's a good thing. However the R&B influenced tracks are where this fails as he barely seems to contribute to this part of the album. If your curious to check this album out don't steer clear because of the LMFAO & 3OH!3 tracks (though the latter made me cringe). It is for the most part exactly what crunk is catchy, fun, but overall stupid.

Limp Bizkit The Unquestionable Truth - Part I
I've actually givin' into giving Limp Bizkit a chance (i'm a fan of Wes), and I have to say this is their finest release EVER! Wes's guitar stylings are more aggressive then ever, and Durst....is tolerable, his lyrics are no longer unbelievably stupid, but actually have stepped up to tolerable...amazing by his standards. If your a fan of Limp Bizkit (or for me, just Wes) give this album a listen, and be surprised that it isn't the total abortion that was Results May Very.

Mudvayne has been trying to titter totter all their fans, with accessible mainstream music, heavy nu-metal bashings, and progressive grooves. This is shown as a balance of all the music, there's plenty of heavy songs ("Can't Wait", and "Beautiful and Strange"), however at the same time they have plenty of radio craving filler songs ("Scream with Me"), and also some more progressive songs ("Dead Inside"). Now about a good half of the album is filler, and it happens to get old quicker then past material, but it's still a step in the right direction and away from the vomit inducing "New Game".

Taproot Plead the Fifth
Temple of the Dog Temple of the Dog
I know I'm the minority here, but listening to this album can be summed up quite literally with just 1 phrase. "Underwhelming" with the combined efforts of Pearl Jam and Chris Cornell I thought this would be more along the lines of grunge greatness, but every song seems to feel like leftovers from both of the bands weaker songs from their albums at that point in time. Chris Cornell still slays as a vocalist though.

Destrophy Destrophy
Pretty average, mainstream metal. They do have moments and occasional riffage ability that seperates them from the pack, they blend sounds of Motograter, Bullet for My Valentine, and Soilwork together, in a accessible sound. The only problem is that they seem to confine themselves too much, like if their off on a brutal tangent, they have to pull out unnecessary melody to make it "cool", the same goes on the other end though, when they're on a fine singing roll, they start in with highly uncalled screaming. Destrophy is a band that still has trouble balancing melody and brutality.

My friend told me to check these people out, and I actually find a few of the songs pretty "catchy", however this is NOT an album to listen to when your going through a breakup. These lyrics are NOT for the optimist. It's a slight guilty pleasure though most of the songs wear off soon after they lose that catchiness.

I'm not gonna lie, the song "I Wanna Love/Fuck You" is probably pure genius pop music to say the least. However the album as a whole just seems to be very much average, and pretty boring. Damn, my sister for obnoxiously playing this over and over.

I had high hopes for this album and Jason is a very capable vocalist, but a lot of the album just sounds boring and dull. "This Ghost" is a standout track with tons of brutality, and actually manages to shift to keep things interesting. Otherwise Jason is on the same ol' scream throughout, the same chugging guitars, and it gets stale quick.
It Prevails Capture & Embrace
There's moments of hardcore, metal, pop punk, and a tad of progressive. This band's impressive hard hitting sound, really captivated me, however in all fairness after you get that "wow, this is an awesome new band" feel the tracks are pretty standard, however this is a good sign of things to come.

Out of all the deathcore bands, I think there's never been quite the love/hate ratio then there has been with this album. On one side the vocalist manages to sound his own within the deathcore genre (a hard task indeed), the guitarists are fairly talented, and occasionally the band has atmosphere to offer. On the OTHER side the drummer is obviously (and quite horrendously) programmed, there are simply waaaaaay too many breakdowns (most of which are horribly placed), and on top of that most songs sound exactly the same. However there are 3 awesome songs on here ("A Mandatory Sacrifice", "District of Misery", and "Depths) which are the only reason to even go through this collection of your average collection of growls, breakdowns, and chugs.

Originally, when I took listen I thought this album would be a grower on me. Instead it grew farther apart from me with every listen. The obvious displays of talent from the bass, drums, guitars and even vocals are TOO terrible. It's just they are trying to do too many things at once, like stuck in a twilight zone of metalcore, deathcore, and technical abominations. The songs are disjointed in between chugs, breakdowns, and poor use of clean vocals. Avoid at all costs if you can.

This amazes me that Chris actually thought up a stupid idea, and then did it. We all have ideas Chris....like if we walk off the Grand Canyon would we be able to float in the air like Bugs Bunny, but that doesn't mean your supposed to actually test these theories. Hells Bells, admittedly isn't insanely bad.
Six Feet Under Graveyard Classics III
Chris voice committed suicide when it realized this was the future of it's career. Instrumentally though, it was a fine effort.

Soundtrack (Film) Pokémon: The First Movie Soundtrack
I'm ashamed (or proud) to admit that I still have this laying around somewhere in a large box somewhere.
This is pretty much everything that was popular with the kids in 1999 embodied in a single disc. Pokemon cries, N'Sync, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, and yes...there's even a Jigglypuff song with some pop singer.
However most of these songs are as stale as the cheese that's left in my refrigerator since I saw the accompanying movie in theaters.

brokeNCYDE I'm Not a Fan, but the Kids Like It!
Cher Take Me Home
My aunt forced Cher down my throat, and I felt dirty. Like when you actually stared at that one really stanky, but not really attractive chick in your first period class, except this time it's a man....oh wait.
D12 D12 World
-I fuck two twins, with a midget on top. A sick mind, raping an old lady-
Pretty much sums up everything you can expect from this "group".
DoomThrone Skeleton Veiled in Flesh
How did this "group" manage to get so much attention? As I read one fan post on youtube "how many bands do you know make a song that lasts 10 mins?". Just because Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus lasted for more then an hour, does NOT make it any form of good. This album is possibly the worst metal album of this or any century.

EAT ME RAW XALBUMX
Eminem Encore
Emmure The Respect Issue
Escape the Fate This War Is Ours
Escape the Fate's first release a by the book metalcore release, but not a terrible one at least. THIS? This is pure crap recorded on audio. I'd rather sit in my house all day and listen fart sounds on youtube, then actually give this album a "chance" ever again.

Lady Sovereign Public Warning
Imagine your little annoying sister trying to act "hardcore" and rap. Yeah...i'd rather listen to nails on a chaulkboard or a Limp Bizkit/Attack Attack collab before I give this album a spin past the first 10secs.

Metallica St. Anger

Paris Hilton Paris
"Do You Think I'm Sexxaaay" no I do not Miss Hilton, I prefer to chase after women with more class and that does not have a nose that's the size of east Texas. Also according to every track on this album, apparently she is very good at sexual intercourse and has the ability to arouse other gentlemen and even the likes of other women.....I respectfully disagree. This album, like her in a private room SUCKS!
