Dismember Like an Ever Flowing Stream
Lets just get this out of the way... This is a heavy LP. The guitar tone is great and gives tremolo riffs and superior relentless sound. There are also a lot of great melodies scattered throughout the album making the experience even better. Solid record.

Probably the best cybergrind record ever recorded. This is just a non stop assault on your senses. The samples used are pretty amusing as well. This is a record you have to listen to all the way through because you won't get the full effect listening to a few 30 second tracks alone.

I want to give this a 3.5 but there is some really excellent drumming on this record and I am a major sucker for good drumming. I felt like there could have been more variety in the riffs since they are considered a progressive metal group.
Black Flag Damaged
Blind Guardian Imaginations from the Other Side
Blind Guardian Nightfall in Middle-Earth

All bout dat flute. Great "vintage" sounding sabbath-y rock n' roll with the addition of lots of flute playing. The female vocals aren't amazing but they fit the music perfectly.

Cryptopsy The Book of Suffering - Tome II

Dan Swano Moontower
Fantastic record.. although the flippin' keyboard is way too high in the mix. If the keyboards would have been toned down a bit this would be an even better record.
Danko Jones Below The Belt
Dark Angel Leave Scars
Solid riffage.. Gene Hoglan shows his progression toward becoming a legend and the production packs a punch. Even though I gave this a 4 there are still some issues. Cauterized should have been half of the length because it drags after 4 or 5 minutes and the Immigrant Song cover is a fun novelty but it really isn't that great. Overall this is a solid record.
Dead Congregation Promulgation of the Fall
Dead Kennedys Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables
Deathspell Omega Paracletus
Deeds of Flesh Portals to Canaan
Defeated Sanity Chapters of Repugnance
Defeated Sanity The Sanguinary Impetus
Delain Moonbathers
This was one of my most anticipated albums of the year and it delivers on every level. I absolutely LOVE the production on this album. My favorite aspect being that the drums have a natural resonance and sound that is missing from a lot of modern music these days. On top of that, new drummer Rubin Israel provides an added spark to Delain with some really solid playing. If you are already a Delain fan you will love this. If you like symphonic metal/rock with pop hooks you will probably want to add this to your library.
Delain The Human Contradiction
Demolition Hammer Epidemic of Violence
Solid riffs and solid drumming. It's a shame that the drummer passed away. He provided Demolition Hammer with some of the tightest heart pounding drums in thrash metal.

One thing that was disappointing about this record was that the guitar tone wasn't as menacing. It really doesn't have that thickness that made their debut album sound so heavy. However this is still a solid record with some great songs.

Most tech-death bands bore the hell out of me to the point that I will fall asleep listening to them in the car while going 80 on the freeway (I'm looking at you Beyond Creation) but this is a rather fine record. Does it sound like a lot of other tech albums? Ya.. But there is something about the guitar riffs and melodies that make this one stand out and appease my ear drums.

Xandria Sacrificium

Excellent for what it is... cyber porno sludge grind? The music honestly isn't that off the wall. XXX Maniak do this kind of stuff the best in my opinion. I wish they would put out more material.

Zhrine Unortheta
Highly recommended for all black metal fans or fans of music that just sounds pure EVIL! There are a ton of fantastic melodies on this record that give it quite a haunting vibe.

3.5 great

7 H. Target 0.00 Apocalypse
This is a pretty fine slab of slam death. 7 H. Target bring some really solid riffs to the table as well as some strange off the wall stuff that is really kind of a hit or miss. One major flaw would be the sloppy drumming in parts. The drummer tries to do a bit too much and it throws off the whole recording a bit. Other than that, this record is highly recommended for slam fans.

Audioslave Out of Exile
Autopsy Tourniquets, Hacksaws and Graves
Autopsy Severed Survival
Easily the best Autopsy album... why? Because of Steve DiGiorgio. Most of Autopsy's work pretty much sounds the same... even their new stuff... which just benefits from better production values. The thing that separates Severed Survival from the rest is Steve's standout bass playing. Everything from his overall unique approach, the dissonant bass chords and his floppy fretless bass tone add to the overall sound of the record. Another thing I love is the blazin lead guitar tone. If this album had the rhythm tone of some of the Swedish bands like Dismember and Entombed this record would really stand out. Overall this is a great early death metal record (1989!) that everyone should have in their collection. I also like the "surgeon" cover art better than the dude getting ripped to pieces art... even though that is pretty cool and hellraiser-esque.
Bad Rabbits American Nightmare
Bathory Hammerheart
Belphegor The Last Supper
Black Country Communion BCCIV
Black Tongue The Unconquerable Dark
Blade of Horus Monumental Massacre
Solid tech death(core) record. There is a lot of fret board surfin' guitar work to go along with the chugging slam breakdowns that are scattered throughout the album. Blade of Horus don't leave you hangin' when it comes to melodies either. There are plenty of ripping guitar melodies and leads. The drums are handled by the legendary Kevin Talley and he definitely brings his A+ game on this record. If some of the songs flowed better than this would be 4. Overall great listen. Recommended.
Blue Stahli The Devil
Bolt Thrower War Master

I understand the hate... but this record has so many catchy tunes that I just can't resist it.
Buckethead The Boiling Pond
Burzum Hvis Lyset Tar Oss
Butcher Babies Take It Like a Man
Caladan Brood Echoes Of Battle
Carach Angren Dance and Laugh Amongst the Rotten

Fun record. There is actually quite a bit of variety throughout the record which was a surprise. Pete's sense of humor shines in many of the tracks which adds to the charm.

I'm not the biggest fan of modern hardcore but this is a great record that has enough variety to keep me interested.

Defeated Sanity Disposal Of The Dead // Dharmata
One thing that is clear is that the cynic/atheist inspired jazz-metal wankery on the 2nd half of this album is a blast to listen to. However it almost feels like they were trying a bit to hard to be "jazzy" and it comes off as a bit of a mess in places. If they would have toned down the wankery a bit I think it could have resulted in more solid material. It's still a great listen in the end.
Destruction Infernal Overkill

Diabolical Masquerade Ravendusk in my Heart

Dio Killing the Dragon

Doom Formation Definition of Evil
4 track demo tape that sounds better than most Darkthrone albums. There is some really excellent drumming on this tape and the bands performance is rather tight which makes me sad that they never put out a full length lp.
Dorje Catalyst
Catalyst contains some very impressive musicianship and some solid song writing. There are a ton of great riffs, solos and drum & bass moments that really make these songs stand out among your typical modern rock material. The vocals are actually quite unique and a breathe of fresh air for me at least. Although this is a really solid EP I had a few issues with it. I personally don't pay attention to lyrics much but they do get my attention sometimes and it's usually because they are kinda lame. That would be the case with this EP. I just felt like some tracks would have been better with stronger lyrics. Overall this is highly recommended.

Pure Holocaust is a solid old school black metal record but it doesn't offer up anything really that fantastic. I actually really like the production on this record. It is raw but not so raw that it's a chore to decipher what the hell you are even listening to... *cough* darkthrone *cough*. The drums are actually fairly solid on this album also. Immortal only got better from here but I still come back to this one once in awhile.

Great atmospheric record. My only problem was that Primordial Wound and Violent Constellations (two of the longest tracks clocking in over 10 minutes) didn't have the big pay off that tracks like The Paradise Gallows had. They had their moments but left me wanting more at the end of those tracks.

Philip H. Anselmo and The Illegals Walk Through Exits Only
I really don't get the hate for this album. It is relentless.. heavy.. in your face.. and has Philip mothaf#$!in H. Anselmo! The musicianship is solid throughout with heavy (almost spastic) riffs and chaotic drumming. On top of that Phil still sounds pretty damn good considering the hell his voice has probably gone through over the years. One thing that kind of irritates me is that some of the songs don't flow very well. This is why I can see why a lot of people would not like this record if they are a fan of Down and Pantera. There are a lot of moments that have a chaotic grindcore or powerviolence type of feel that may be a bit too "out there" for some listeners. Overall I enjoyed this quite a bit.

Noregs Vaapen is a solid black metal record that is full of great riffs and melodic moments. I will definitely check out more Taake records in the future. Oh ya... there is a banjo solo on the song Myr... and it is freakin' awesome.
The Claypool Lennon Delirium Monolith of Phobos
The Crown Cobra Speed Venom
The Damned Machine Gun Etiquette
The Damned Phantasmagoria
The Killers Hot Fuss
Thy Art Is Murder Holy War
Toxik World Circus
Everything is fantastic about this album except... the VOCALS! I mean if you like constant high pitched falsetto than this is right up your alley. I just wish they were toned down a bit because they really take a toll on your eardrums. They definitely take some getting used to but will eventually grow on you over time.

Abyssic A Winter's Tale
After the Burial Rareform
Afterbirth The Time Traveler's Dilemma
Ahab The Call of the Wretched Sea
Anal Cunt Defenders of the Hate
Definitely not the worst grindcore record I've ever heard. There are actually a lot of great grind moments on this record with some surprisingly solid drumming. Probably the best thing I have heard from Anal Cunt.
Angel Witch Angel Witch
A rather average record saved by some quality guitar melodies and solos. If the vocals were stronger than this would be even better.
Arch Enemy Khaos Legions
Ash Borer Cold of Ages
Attila About That Life
Attila Rage
Black Moth The Killing Jar
Black Sabbath Born Again
Blood Ceremony Lord of Misrule
Maybe I need to listen to this again but I didn't enjoy it as much as their other work.
Blood Circus Primal Rock Therapy
Bodybag Hard Death
Bodybag At the End of Time
Boris Amplifier Worship
Carnage Dark Recollections
I think this record is overrated. It is a solid death metal record but there are not enough interesting riffs to make this a classic. I do really dig the guitar tone on this record though.
Chemical Breath Fatal Exposure
Cliteater From Enslavement to Clitoration
Convulse World Without God
Overrated old school death metal. Is it a good record? Ya.. it's ok.. I guess.. The problem is that there is nothing interesting going on here. This record is really monotonous and becomes rather boring after the first few songs.

Katatonia Brave Murder Day
Kraanium Post Mortal Coital Fixation
Does your band even slam bro? But for real.. It is really average but it is a fun record if slam is your thing. This album almost breaks my "no ping-ping snare" rule but it isn't so annoying that is makes me want to stab pencils in my ear drums.
Kreator Endorama
Lone Wanderer The Majesty Of Loss
Marduk Dark Endless
Master On the Seventh Day God Created.... Master
Mudhoney Under a Billion Suns
Orbit Culture Rasen
This is pretty standard metal that just happens to have enough solid melodies and great moments to make this an above average album. One aspect of this album that stands out is the drumming. There are a lot of great moments from the man behind the kit which is always a bonus with me.
Pathology Surgically Hacked
Pungent Stench For God Your Soul...For Me Your Flesh
Pyrexia Sermon of Mockery
Saviour Machine Saviour Machine I
This was actually quite a surprising listen. I enjoyed this record for the most part but some of the songs felt a bit dry. This record also felt it was 3 songs too long. I might have to give this one another serious listen.

2.5 average
Agretator Distorted Logic
Amaranthe Maximalism
Attila Chaos
Attila Guilty Pleasure
Begging For Incest Finsternis
I think the thing that ruins this record for me is the super sloppy blasting by the drummer.
Black Flag My War
Deeds of Flesh Reduced to Ashes
Enslaved Vertebrae
I don't know why people praise this album so much. This album is boring as hell. There are few great moments that make you think things will get better but they just don't. Skip it.
Lacuna Coil Delirium
Lacuna Coil unleashes their inner Korn and makes an album that just doesn't click with me on every level. I listened to it twice and it felt even more weak on the second listen. Most of the "heavy" riffs just feel like throwaway scraps from Korn's latest album. I also don't understand how people can compare this to Comalies because they sound nothing like each other.
Marilyn Manson Born Villain
Mortician Hacked Up for Barbecue
No Doubt Push and Shove
NOFX Heavy Petting Zoo
Signal The Firing Squad Abnegate
TAD 8-Way Santa
xTexasChainsawx State of Filth
There is nothing special here but it is a fun deathcore record and is super short. I'd
say it is worth a listen for fans of the genre. All others just stay away.

2.0 poor
Black Flag Family Man
Mayhem Grand Declaration of War
This record has a lot of great ideas scattered throughout but they are mostly hindered by the really horrible ideas that make up the album as well. Essentially this record has no consistency at all. The first five tracks all range from decent to fairly strong but then the album takes a strange turn after the spoken(whispered?)word and trip-hop tracks A Bloodsword and Colder Sun pts 1 & 2. They even decided to throw in some random moments of silence and labeled them as tracks... That really confused me... Skip It or just listen to the first half and shelve it.
Rottrevore Iniquitous
HEAVY AS F#!@.... but rather generic and not really all that interesting.
