This sounds like the album Mastodon would have made had they stuck to the blueprint laid down by Call of the Mastodon all the way through to Crack the Skye. But seen as though they didn't, I won't accuse them of mimicing their sound. This album is both startingly beautiful and crushingly heavy and rarely have these two contrasts sounded so wierdly fit for each other. Deserving of any praise lavished upon it though I'm going to give it a few more spins before I get all excited with the rating.

First album from a great band. Not as heavy as future releases but still incredibly heavy. Stone Magnet is a monster groove that needs to be heard.

Incredibly disappointing for me considering how good Ameliorate was. Fair play to them branching out into other styles, but I'm really not digging it atm, not enough guitar. Rating would have been lower had it not been for the creativity of the instrumentals and the sheer brilliance of Eternal Bloom, which gave me hope that they had one other great song on this barring the Triangular Race Through Space. Will keep listening though
