As with any other Death album this is fucking awesome (songs like 'Left to Die', 'Pull the plug', 'Open Casket' etc. are all classics), that being said if I had to choose a "weakest Death album" it would either be this one or The Sound of Perseverance. Obviously Leprosy is sort of a midway point between the grittiness and brutality of SBG and the more technical approach taken with Spiritual Healing but I just don't see this as being quite as effective as either of them (although still excellent). Found here are cold and emotionless synth/drum rhythms that are perhaps representative and reactionary to all that is decadent and degenerate in today’s modern society. There are often German and English vocal samples that have somewhat of a militant feel to them. Audio-wise it seems that what these noise-terrorists have set out to attain here has been successfully achieved. From start to finish there is much variety yet absolutely no tracks that could be termed as 'filler' here. A few of my favourites would probably be the title track, which kicks off the album at a speedy pace and is kind of reminiscent to an improved "I Don't Wanna Be Me", "Hail and Farewell to Britain" which contains many Sabbath-type riffs and "September Sun", perhaps my very favourite which is 7-8 minutes of sheer Type O 'gothic' beauty.
