Bob Dylan Together Through Life
Ok...I am commenting as someone who really struggled with Time Out of Mind, despite some great lyrical moments I found it in the main dour. Love and theft I loved, Modern Times I really liked and for me this falls at best somewhere inbetween the two of these. I think the laid back sound is good and suits Dylans voice however there are no magical lyrics here and so you get the impression Bob is doing covers. First track, 'Beyond here lies nothing' is like a laid back version of Santanas Black Magic Woman. I liked this track the best alongside 'I feel a change comin on' . Both of these songs at least have a bit of a groove to keep your attention. On the whole though this is all a bit of a jamming session to my ears. Im sure Bob is enjoying himself and without a doubt he deserves to, as he's more than paid his dues and owes us nothing but it would be nice to think he still has a few magical moments left in the lyrics department. Nonetheless I have no doubt I will buy his next album and any subsequent ones.
