Pearl Jam Ten
one day a while ago as i was calling from my friend i heard a high pitched guitar coming from his kitchen. "what is that!" i asked him he said pearl jam. as soon as i got home i downloaded loads of pearl jam songs and fell in love with eddie vedders deep voice.
now i'm going to review one of my faviroute albums of all time.

1. once
the album begins with a slow drum beat and a slow winding bass. when i first heard this i was thinking wtf but then huge guitar riff kicks in and the album properly begins. a very catchy song and a great chorus with gossards signiture high pitched guitar flowing widly as eddy shouts "ONCE!!"
4/5

2. even flow
this is where the album kicks in to overdrive. the opening guitar riff is like a punch to the face saying "WAKE UP". a very catchy melody with a slightly unfitting but genius chorus that slows down the action.
5/5

3. alive
even though this was the song that got me into pearl jam i can't stand it anymore. as soon as those high pitched squeals begin i skip the track. however its a great pop song and is a great song to get into pearl jams deeper stuff
3.5/5

4. why go
this track is pretty average although very tight drums and a singalong chorus saves it from mediocricy. i believe its an abused woman just like daughter
3/5

5. black
begins wiv a nice clean guitar riff and quickly changes to an empty verse filled with eddies lonely vocals and scratching guitar. this is more about drama than melody, with a huge ending that gives u real sympathy for eddie. the emotional centerpiece of the album
5/5

6.jeremy
this was a huge hit back in the day and i can see why. a catchy chorus and verse that builds up to an ear tingling climax. the desperate wails that eddie shouts out at the end only help to show the pure helpnessnes and depression of young jeremy. brilliant
5/5

7. oceans
with tribal drums and high pitched wailing this song is cleary the wierd track in the album. but despite its wierdness its quite user friendly and is a very nice song to pick u up after the crushing jeremy.
4.5/5

8. porch
even with a very cool guitar riff, this is nothing special excepth for the spacy middle bit where the guitars seem to float in mid air with an air of lonelyness. great solo but dosent hit you the way the rest of the album does.
3.5/5

9. garden
a great track but for me this got old fast. its hippyish verse is blown out of the water by a huge chorus. a fantastic solo showcasing skill and musical know how, howver like i said before this got kind of old quick.
4/5

10. deep
probably the only grunge song on the album. the riff dosent really sound like it fits but its all kept together by brilliant drumming. an ok chorus but no real melody and it seems out of place but at least its a change from the later album. this song will sound very good after you hav heard the rest of the album
4/5

11. release
a ver nice floaty song to end on. vedders lonely but hopefull vocals provide a lovely musical in which to relax and wind down after the huge rockers. very good song although i prefer indifference for a final song.
4/5

maybe now you see why i love this album it has everything, hard rockers, soft rockers , grunge, art rock. it all fits together in a neat package that just happens to have gone 13 times platinum
