Metallica Death Magnetic
Death Magnetic is one of the first Metallica CD's I bought in awhile and couldn't take out of my CD player for months. Produced by Rick Rubin, this is in my opinion their best record to date. Rubin told the band to listen to the music they did around the time of their first album and it does not dissapoint. This is Kirk's big return after St. Anger with solos, having some of his most interesting solos yet.

The album starts off slow with a heartbeat, which probably has to do with the record's theme of death. Anways, That Was Just Your Life is the first song. It has a very fast verse riff and great chorus. The solo is also pretty good and interesting. 4/5

Next comes The End of The Line, and it certainly isnt the end of the good songs about to come. Its a pretty up-beat, cool song overall, but nothing too amazing 3/5

Broken, Beat & Scared is the third track and is also up-beat, even funk-esque at times. The lyrics are pretty repetitive, but the song is anything but boring. 4/5

The Day That Never Comes is the fourth track and if you like "One", you're going to love this song. It starts off with a clean guitar riff and leads in to a calm riff with a, for lack of a better word "epic" sounding chorus. The song takes a pretty dramatic change from its calm self just like One and becomes a heavy fast-riffing jam. 4/5

All Nightmare Long. I'll be completely honest, this song is absolutely amazing. It starts with a cool riff. What comes next is classic Metallica: fast and furious. The chorus is the best part of the song that isnt the solo/jam-ish section. "Hunt you down without mercy, hutn you down all nightmare long." is one of the best lines Hetfield has come up with for the record. The solo/jam section will leave you going "Holy s***!". 6/5

Enough about my obviously favorite song, on to the second half of the record!
Cyanide...its a decent song, but doesn't go to well after Nightmare. It'd be much better after Broken Beat & Scarred as it has the same sort of funk-esque feel to it. 4/5

Its finally a trilogy: The Unforgiven has given birth to part III. Its starts with a slow piano and horn part that leads in to a clean guitar riff. This song wins the epic build-up award on the record. The rising->climax feel from the interlude to the solo is something you cant really review, its something you just have to hear for yourself. 5/5

The Judas Kiss is track 8. I can't really say much about this song, its never been a stand-out track for me. Its neccesarilly bad, it just isnt amazing. 3/5

Suicide & Redemption is the second to last track and is a great song. It's an instrumental as well. Apparently lyrics were just too hard for this song, so they made it an instrumental. It's also 2 seconds short of being 10 minutes long, but it doesnt seem to be that long seeing as the song changes very often. 4/5

And last, but far from least, is My Apocalypse. It starts with a bang and ends just as abruptly, very much like Damage Inc. off Master of Puppets. Coming in at 5 minutes, this song is turbo 'Tallica coming back. It has some of the fastest riffing since Ride The Lightning. Great solo as well 5/5

I only have two complaints. This album is loud, very LOUD!!!. Its not unbearable, but just turn down your music player a little or you wont be able to listen to it for very long because youll get a headache.
The other complaint is that you cant hear Robert Trujillo the majority of the time, which is pretty lame considering he's very talented and it's his first record with them.

Metallica made a good choice getting Rick Rubin for this record. It sounds great and is classic Metallica coming back again, just with 2009 recording technology. The future is looking bright.
