5.0 classic
Between the Buried and Me Colors
Amazing. Ridiculous genre shifts, amazing technical proficiency, and the type of songwriting that I especially love. Taking this album at face value is impossible. To understand it, you need to enjoy the humor of HORSE, the devotion and depth of Opeth, the atmosphere of Misery Signals, and the melodies of Dream Theater. Oh, and the awesomeness of BtBaM.

This is metalcore for alternative rockers. Honestly, as I look back at myself and this record, this was what got me hooked on metal. Although their new direction is naive and ill-informed, this album is epic, catchy, and interesting, especially for a major myspace band. If you're coming from deathcore, it simply won't have the same effect. Appreciate it for what it is, rather than hating it for what it isn't.
