Cog The Sound Of Three - Twelve Years With You |
The whole idea is very cool, I just don't think they pulled it off so well (it's like the Are You Interested? clip - a bit lame). The live album is pretty cool; pretty nice set list. It's funny hearing Flynn's voice on some of the Sharing Space tracks - he has trouble holding some of the higher notes (to the point of me cringing a couple of times, just like when I've seen them live on the Sharing Space tour(s). Plus, using like 10 layers of prerecorded stuff is kinda weak; PLUS when your pre-recorded vocals are better then yours on the night it's time to reassess I think), but when he sings New Normal as well as the Just Visiting track, it suits his voice much better and sounds great.
The DVD was a bit of a wank for me: "cog were a massive new sound in the underground scene; cog were amazing; cog's amazing". In the credits both Lucius (the drummer) and OX (ex-Mammal vox) wrote the script; it all feels a little bit bullshit.
Love this band to bits, but I don't think I'll be watching the DVD more than twice. The cd will be good to listen to chuck on every now and then though. Worth the A$25 if you're a hardcore fan, if not, pick up an album instead. These guys keep my hope for the Australian scene alive - trust me, if you lived where I live (Townsville, QLD) you'd be saying the same
P.S. New album should be awesome, as always, cannot wait.
P.S.S. Will probably drop in like...2012. Fuck. |
