Fightstar They Liked You Better When You Were Dead |
This extened EP of 9 tracks, is still the finest moment of Fightstar's short career, with thier debut full-length a very closed second. Raw, heavy, emotive and atmospheric all at once. Post-hardcore at it's finest |
Frightened Rabbit The Midnight Organ Fight |
A wonderful, sincere and quite brilliant album. Hutchison delivers in such a way that you can really appreciate where his head was at when writing this record. The lyrics' honesty shines through, while the music is often bleak and simple yet so infectious and uplifting. If you've ever been through a bitter break up, listen to this album. |
Green Day Insomniac |
Green Day at their finest. Fast, rough and full of adolesent energy |
Jimmy Eat World Clarity |
Quite simply, one of the most moving and effecting albums I've heard. It's taken me a while to really appreciate why this is often considered a masterpiece and a landmark record of the 90s music scene. I love their blend of mellow, emotive tunes mixed with faster and punchy numbers. All with great lyrics and delivery. "Goodbye Sky Harbour" is also just a masterful, 16 minuted epic of a tune! |
New Found Glory Coming Home |
The NFG album I hold in highest regard with it's matured songwriting and musicianship. I really love the classic rock vibe going on here, as well as still containing their catchy and upbeat elements in certain tracks ("Hold My Hand". "Coming Home"). But it's the more serious and slowed down numbers I cherish on this album ("Make Your Move", "Too Good To Be", "When I Die", "Boulders") NFG will always be the kings of straight up pop-punk anthems, but this proved they could do more than just write catchy, three chord songs. |
Nirvana In Utero |
Nirvana MTV Unplugged in New York |
Nirvana Nevermind |
Oasis (What's the Story) Morning Glory? |
Oasis Definitely Maybe |
Rage Against the Machine Rage Against the Machine |
Sex Pistols Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols |
While I love my pop-punk of today, with all it's punk energy and feel good sing-along's, you can't beat some real punk rock that's full over angst and anti-establishment! |
