4.5 superb
Born of Osiris The New Reign
Not choppy writing. I'd call it ..getting straight to the point. :]
Its good for people with short attention spans, like me. Same with the track lengths, although i do with there were one or two extra songs that were a bit longer. Amazing band though. Exciting, interesting, catchy and crushing!
Sky Eats Airplane Sky Eats Airplane
Personally I think this album is FARR better than the first. The band have matured greatly, and the songs are developed, progressive, technical, catchy, and helped along by superb production values. Overall people need to start realising this band has a lot of songwriting talent, that is more akin to Underoath, Sikth, Misersy Signals, and TDEP, and even prog heroes Between The Buried and Me than bands like Horse The Band, and Enter Shikari...who they seem to be compared to too much..

The vocals are well arranged with some great harmonies on the sung sections, with all the screamed sections being delivered with great focus and power. Musically the drummer, guitarists, and bassist are top notch. All suprememly talented!

Overall i love this album so much because it has managed to combine so much from so many genres (hardcore, prog, tech, electronic, pop etc..) and done so well!

4.0 excellent

Amazing, involving, grainy, distorted, yet beautiful atmospheric landscapes!! So powerful, I love it!
The Faceless Planetary Duality
"It's a good album but falls short of expectations set by their freshman release of Akeldama. First off Lyle Cooper's drumming expands on the faceless' tendency to drill really fast, but lacks groove and is really hard to get into some parts. Now I quote Akeldama as being one of my all time favorite albums since it was released so my opinion is somewhat bias, but their new direction just doesn't do it for me. The first half of the album (Prison Born- Xenochrist) is really good and has made it onto my playlist since its release, unfortunately the last 4 songs all have significant moments where you want to just fast-forward. Son of Beliel starts off corny and has poor transitions throughout, Legion of Serpents has solid shred parts, but breaks no new ground and has little groove, and the planetary duality songs just aren't that good. Buy the album if you are a fan of progressive deathmetal and you will get your money's worth, I was just hoping for another top 10 classic."
+1

3.0 good
Between the Buried and Me Colors
Protest the Hero Fortress
Descent band, still some overly wanky guitaring and slightly uninspired drumming though... and i still cant handle the vocals sorry. If you can though, then good on you. For the musicianship/heavy bits/it being an improvement over kezia it gets the marks shown. :]
