The album has been recorded live at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on July 11, 1970 with brand new material. The album starts with "Martin Luther King's Dream" inspired from his famous speech "I have a dream". Julie Felix (British folk-singer) phoned the band to tell them that Coretta King (his wife) wanted them to play it in her coming rally in Central Hall, Westmister. It was a great honour for the band to perform it. "The Antique Suite" is a true masterpiece melting several mediaeval melodies with many pinched strings instruments like acoustic guitar, mandolin, dulcimer while Rick Wakeman adds some harpsichord and celesta. "Temperament of Mind" is a solo piano improvisation by Rick Wakeman. It's the same kind of medley mixing classical and jazz quotes with his own music, he will do in the future on his solo albums and with Yes. The audience became quite crazy and he was really amazing in this one. "Fingertips" is another beautiful song with a mystic soul. The whole end is instrumental. "Song of a Sad Little Girl" is also a beautiful ballad greatly introduced by Rick Wakeman on piano. The association acoustic guitar-piano in the middle is amazing. "Where Is the Dream of Your Youth" is the second long masterpiece. The mood is not the same and it's more electric with fast tempo and sweet percussions. The high point is the awesome Hammond organ solo by Rick Wakeman, melodically very inspired and not only a technical prowess. "Just a Collection of Antiques and Curios" was the first Strawbs album to enter the UK charts to peak at #27. On the basis of his keyboard playing, stardom was predicted for Rick Wakeman on the Melody Maker front page. This album is an ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE and is highly recommended. The Beatles Rubber SoulThe Beatles Abbey RoadThe Beatles The BeatlesThe Beatles 1The Beatles Sgt.
