Animal Collective Fall Be Kind
Miles Davis Kind of Blue
This is the one jazz record owned by people who don't listen to jazz, and with good reason. The band itself is extraordinary (proof of Miles Davis's masterful casting skills, if not of God's existence), listing John Coltrane and Julian "Cannonball" Adderley on saxophones, Bill Evans (or, on "Freddie Freeloader," Wynton Kelly) on piano, and the crack rhythm unit of Paul Chambers on bass and Jimmy Cobb on drums. Coltrane's astringency on tenor is counterpoised to Adderley's funky self on alto, with Davis moderating between them as Bill Evans conjures up a still lake of sound on which they walk. Meanwhile, the rhythm partnership of Cobb and Chambers is prepared to click off time until eternity. It was the key recording of what became modal jazz, a music free of the fixed harmonies and forms of pop songs. In Davis's men's hands it was a weightless music, but one that refused to fade into the background. In retrospect every note seems perfect, and each piece moves inexorably towards its destiny.
Muse Absolution
Muse reach perfection on their 3rd full length release with the stunning 'Absolution.' This album highlights everything that is good about the amazing UK trio. The album opens with the fantastic 'Apocolypse Please' and does not let you go until the very end track 'Ruled By Secrecy.' The album contains no filler tracks with every song being spectacular.
Paul Dempsey Everything Is True
Paul Kelly Songs From The South - Volumes 1 & 2
Paul Kelly says, in one of his songs, that he is a legend and not a star. This statement could not be more true. Virtually unheard-of outside of Oz, Paul Kelly writes strong lyrics that perfectly capture a moment.
Rise Against The Sufferer and the Witness
Rise Against hits us with a rollicking wallop of an album that further establishes the Chicago-based outfit as one of the great bright hopes for the future of the pop/punk/rock scene. Cut from the same savvy cloth as Bad Religion and Black Flag, Rise Against rocks hard during the martial opus opener, "Chamber The Cartridge," the melodic "Injection," which asks us to imagine that Iron Maiden came from sunny California and not some dreary part of London, and "Ready To Fall," which may be one of the greatest anthems of adolescent estrangement. The band also isn't afraid of a good hook and scintillating melody ("Under The Knife"), exploring complex emotions ("Roadside"), or unleashing a bit of old-school breakneck fury sans apology ("Brick"). All of these things demonstrate that Rise Against is drawing from a broader palette than many of its counterparts, one of the reasons it will (indeed, already has) rise above the masses of sound-alike acts vying for the attention of the younger generations.
Underoath Define The Great Line
Underoath have single-handedly given hope to a genre ripe with rip-offs, carbon copies, and flavor of the week musical acts. "Define the Great Line" further establishes Underoath as one of the most important and influential bands in metalcore music today.

Yes, It could be one of the best Latin-Big Band cds of all time, but I hesitate to say that only because I don't own much else (a few here and there) to compare it to. I can't imagine anything being better that this disc, from the awesome soloing by everyone involved, to Faddis' lead playing and the percussion... this is a fun, summertime party kind of cd, but with beautiful ballads, that can put me in the best possible mood just from listening.

Underoath Lost In The Sound Of Separation
After releasing one of the greatest metalcore albums of all time, Underoath return with the extremely tight and raw Lost In The Sound of Seperation. While still being more cacthy and pop(ier) this album feels a lot more heavy than DTGL. With more comprehensive and coherent song writing Underoath have successfully backed up DTGL.

August Burns Red Messengers
August Burns Red's second album Messenger's is fantastic. Backed with one very strong rythm section (Drums and a barely audible bass) and some techniquely written guitar riffs this album seems to stand out and above over other generic Metalcore albums.

House Vs. Hurricane Forfeiture
With an unique name like "House Vs Hurricane" you could be either really bad or really good. Luckily these boys are better than good. Hailing from the same country as heavyweights Parkway Drive, House Vs Hurricane are looking to captivate fans across the globe just like Parkway has done in the past. Though for an EP there is way to much filler. The standout tracks I would rate downloadable are: 'Comforting out Thought in A Continues Blue', 'Fofeiture' and 'The Only Virtue' with all 3 tracks getting the exact mix of Metalcore and 'disco' per-say correct.

The Devil Wears Prada With Roots Above and Branches Below
The Devil Wears Prada (TDWP) have at last done something well. Created a good album, that is average on scale to any other band. TDWP have followed the same simple generic formula, since breaking new ground seems to scary a task for a christian bias metalcore band, though at least they have got rid of all the things that made the last album horrible. But they still persist with stupid song title names such as 'Big Wiggly Style' and 'I Hate Buffering.' To borrow a line, these guys are just so good at being mediocre.
