4.5 superb
All Shall Perish Awaken the Dreamers
I don't understand how anyone could give this album such a low score...
this is a great album full of diversity and all executed nearly perfectly, songwriting is amazing,
there is death metal, deathcore, instrumental, and even soft jazzy rock like Opeth on one track
listen to this again, maybe it takes more than one listen to realize it, but i guarantee this is at least a 4 out of 5
All That Remains The Fall of Ideals
Solid all the way through!
Highlights of greatness: "The Weak Willed", "Six", "The Air That I Breathe"
Decapitated The Negation
This is definitely one of the best death metal albums out there.
Decapitated recently lost their drummer in a bus accident (r.i.p.), he was one of the best drummers i've seen and heard, and i listen to quite a bit of death metal.
I think that this vocalist for Decapitated is better than the new one, I don't know what happened to this guy. like why he left the band or what band he is in now, but he is one of the strong points of the album.
The best thing about this album though is the groove, it is catchy rather than boring, as some death metal can be, and the guitarwork is amazing, with solos a plenty.
This is an amazing CD! Enjoy it.
The Absence Riders of the Plague
It's a flaw to play no frills melodic death?
That makes no sense... basically if someone wants to return to the root of the genre rather than playing with keyboards and clean vocals like all the newer bands, then that is a stroke against them?
This is one of the best albums you will ever hear...
Underoath Define the Great Line
This is one of the albums that could almost warrant a 5... but i refuse to give any album the label of being "perfect" or without flaw, so it can have a 4.5...
This album is really not what you would expect after "They're Only Chasing Safety"... it is much heavier and more atmospheric and epic, much darker and yet more memorable at the same time.
This is one of the best albums you will listen to, I don't care if you're some sort of thrash or death metal fanatic.. you WILL appreciate this!
Underoath Lost in the Sound of Separation
Love it! Almost as amazing as "Define The Great Line"...
you don't often see post hardcore with this quality of songwriting, this is a very progressive record with a southern flavour in many of the riffs
Should be a treat for any metal, post hardcore or hard rock fan

4.0 excellent
10 Years The Autumn Effect
Good solid hard rock album!
Somewhere around an 8 out of 10
There are a few weak points, like the slower and more boring 'Cast It Out', but overall this is a good listen and the lead vocalist has a great voice!
36 Crazyfists A Snow Capped Romance
Don't get me wrong.. this isn't quite equal to 'Rest Inside The Flames'... but it also isn't bad enough to be a 3.5 either,
there are some wimpy tunes here that kind of bring down the overall enjoyability (Skin and Atmosphere for example), and Waterhaul can definitely get boring because it's so slow and lumbering.
But overall this is a good album.
36 Crazyfists Rest Inside the Flames
With the exception of "The City Ignites", this album upped the intensity of 'A Snow Capped Romance', which was a good album as well.
But here, 36 Crazyfists really can excited headbangers with songs like "Elysia" and "Felt Through A Telephone Line", which are really epic and have huge breakdowns to boot!
Great!
A Perfect Circle Thirteenth Step
Not excellent... once again I have to refuse the titles given to these scores...
80% is not excellent, it is solid though...
and this album falls a bit short of being solid throughout, although a 3.5 is only 70% and it is probably closer to 80 than 70
so alas, i must say this is a good album, slightly better than "Mer De Noms", because of production and consistency mostly... less experimentation, less room for error
there are some really nice epic choruses on here too, for example "Weak and Powerless", and "The Outsider" to name a couple
All That Remains This Darkened Heart
Very good! Not quite as good as The Fall of Ideals, but I still think "And Death In My Arms" is probably the best song they've written so far (as of Oct. 08) =D
All That Remains Overcome
This album is not excellent... but since 4 out of 5 is 80%, that is about what i would say it is
It is not as good as their last 2 albums, especially not 'The Fall of Ideals', mainly because of Phil's clean vocals, they seem to have taken a turn for the worse
But, it is a consistent album and I love the Nevermore cover at the end =)
Cradle of Filth Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder
Himsa Courting Tragedy & Disaster
Vocals need a bit of work, but the guitarwork is great.
Very nice thrash album!
Straight Reads The Line The Author
This album is basically melodic hardcore with elements of deathcore, metalcore, southern, you name it...
It's progressive as well throughout the song you get shifts between what kind of music you're listening to...
I met these guys a while back and they're also cool just to talk to, and very good songwriters. 4/5
Underoath They're Only Chasing Safety
Good album!
A little poppy at times... or a little too electronic with drum machines and stuff in some parts
But overall i would say this is quite a good album for the screamo/post hardcore genre

3.5 great
10 Years Division
meh... it's a good album but not as solid as "The Autumn Effect", nor is it as heavy
A few instances where they try to experiment they end up sounding either wimpy or just strange, so if they would have stuck to songs like "Beautiful" and "Just Can't Win" then this could have been another solid one
36 Crazyfists Bitterness the Star
...not great...
but 3.5 out of 5, which is average. about 7/10
it is kind of a transition to their style on the following 2 albums, with a bit more Alt Metal/New Metal style as well
'An Agreement Called Forever' stands out as being epic and well written on this album! Check it out.
A Perfect Circle Mer de Noms
cool album for the most part
there definitely are some boring parts, or some 'too experimental' moments (e.g. when an xylophone makes an appearance at the start of one of the last few songs, or when a kid sings some weird jungle style chants)
but Maynard's voice is quite beautiful on most songs, and the songwriting is better than most Rock

2.5 average
A Perfect Circle eMOTIVe
If it wasn't for the decent singles "Passive" and "Imagine", and the odd other song that's mediocre, this album definitely would be a 1, as the reviewer has said.
The majority of these songs are done terribly, and it's no excuse that the originals were crap because they chose to do these songs! There are many other songs about war that they could have chosen, but nope, they picked bad ones... and made them worse :|
Annotations Of An Autopsy Before the Throne of Infection
are you kidding me? the best death metal you've heard... wow
a lot of energy?... this is like sludge death metal, it's some of the slowest death metal ever
this album is decent at times, and not so decent at others
what is with gang vocals... in death metal?... not right
