I've watched various live performances from this album and was impressed (It's Tori, of course I'm going to be impressed, she's incredible--esp live) but didn't know how the actual album would compare. Well, apparently all who recommended me "Boys for Pele" knew what they were talking about, I can't get enough of it. Tori never does cease to amaze me. I'll be another to say that if you are a fan of "Little Earthquakes" it is safe to assume you will love "Boys for Pele."Tori Amos To Venus and BackTrue Widow As High As The Highest Heavens And From The CenterWye Oak The KnotWye Oak CivilianI love Wye Oak and I love this album, but opposed to what I thought, I think I like "The Knot" better than this one. "Civilian" is a strong, dream-like, chill album, but I feel as though The Knot has a bit more 'epic-ness' of a feel. r2 days later: I changed my mind. This album is all I listen to lately, it grows on me every time.4.0 excellentAlice in Chains DirtAlice in Chains FaceliftBalmorhea StrangerBeirut Gulag OrkestarBeirut Lon GislandBiffy Clyro OppositesBjork PostBon Iver For Emma, Forever AgoBraids Native SpeakerBright Eyes Letting Off the HappinessBuke and Gase General DomeCocoRosie The Adventures of Ghosthorse and StillboColdplay A Rush of Blood to the HeadColdplay ParachutesDeftones White PonyDeftones AdrenalineDeftones B-Sides and RaritiesDevendra Banhart Rejoicing in the HandsExitmusic PassageFiona Apple When the Pawn...Flight of the Conchords Flight of the ConchordsJimi Hendrix Experience Hendrix: The Best of HendrixJonsi GoLive Throwing CopperLudovico Einaudi DivenireMy Morning Jacket ZPurity Ring ShrinesRadiohead Kid ARadiohead Hail to the ThiefRadiohead The Best OfSarah Jaffe The Way Sound Leaves A RoomSarah Jaffe The Body WinsSufjan Stevens MichiganSufjan Stevens The Age of AdzThe Black Keys Rubber FactoryThe Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie and the Infinite SadnessThrice The Alchemy Index Vols. Sleepytime Gorilla Museum produces the kind of music that I think will be (and definitely should be) studied in the future as part of music education. The review didn't mention that member Dan Rathbun makes a variety of hand-made instruments which provides much of their unique sound. Listening to Sleepytime Gorilla Museum is an inspiring experience that leaves me in awe every time. There are, of course, certain songs I like better than others, but even tracks that aren't on the top of my list are cool to piece out and learn from--which has contributed to an acquired liking of certain tracks. So much raw, hauntingly beautiful talent in this music. Disappointment in all honesty, their single "Cold" is probably the only song I'll continue to listen to. Could've been a better album if they had put more work into it I think. I do, however, think Crossfade will get better over the years, and I have never seen them live so I can't speak there.Hanne Hukkelberg Rykestraße 68Dude. Really? Really. I was expecting SO much more after hearing "Break my Body." The album was not good, definitely a let down, though not terrible by any means. Just.. disappointing.Lisa Loeb TailsShaman's Harvest ShineThrice The Alchemy Index Vols. I & II2.0 poorLykke Li Youth NovelsI couldn't wait for the album to end. She sounds like a little girl, and has a voice you want to tune out completely due to annoyance. I do not understand the high ratings. She does have a couple of good tracks on this album, but no more than that. Disliked..Tori Amos Strange Little Girls1.5 very poorNatalie Imbruglia Left of the Middle
