Anubis Gate A Perfect Forever
I was into their Andromeda Unchained album long before I gave this a spin. Wow was I blown away. Their track Sanctifed has a very catchy guitar riff, as do all of the songs. It really had to grow on me though, as it didn't immediately click with me the first couple of spins. I can't wait for their next outing. Keep an eye on these guys they have talent
Arcturus La Masquerade Infernale
At the Gates With Fear I Kiss the Burning Darkness
Borknagar The Olden Domain
Borknagar Empiricism
Coldworld Melancholie²
Very chaotic yet calming all the same, this is one of the best atmospheric albums I've ever heard. If you want energy and serenity all at once, this is your jam.
Detonation Emission Phase
Dismember Like An Ever Flowing Stream
Firewind Between Heaven And Hell
a classic power metal album in my book. Many complain of its cheesiness, but between fantastic vocals to the awesome shredding Gus G. creates, many of these songs stick with you long after your first couple of listens
Hypocrisy A Taste of Extreme Divinity
Not QUITE as much of a punch to the throat as Virus had, but dammit does it sound good. production is similar quality to their self-titled album and earlier (not complaining), and the songwriting is fantastic. typical Hypocrisy concoction. giving it a half point more to combat the disappointing low scores down there. hoping it gets even better with more listens! lml >_< lml
Hypocrisy Virus
Hypocrisy The Fourth Dimension
Hypocrisy The Arrival
Iced Earth Horror Show
Iced Earth Night Of The Stormrider

Judas Priest Defenders Of The Faith
Judas Priest Stained Class
Kalmah Swampsong
Kalmah The Black Waltz
Marionette Enemies
Despite their fashion sense, and coming from a guy who listens to Dismember and Bolt Thrower
on a daily basis, these guys really shred. if you're sick of your melo-death sounding
pedestrian, give these guys a chance. Metalcore is a very minuscule part of their sound so
it's fairly tolerable. It's only a 3.5 but i bumped up my rating to balance the overall.
I'm expecting improvement on their next album.

Great album! I had forgotten what Doom Metal has done for me until i popped in this little gem. Now I'm grabbing hold of the genre again and not letting go! Their best album since Gothic. lml >_< lml

probably the first time in recent memory where I felt the B-sides utterly dominate the
tracks on the LP record. They must have been on a drinking stupor when they were figuring
out the setlist for the record. Hopefully they will develop a better sense of songwriting
and judgment for their next album
In Flames Whoracle
In Vain (NO) Mantra
Iotunn The Wizard Falls
Damn I can't stop spinning this album. Can't wait for an LP, and more growls, please!

beautiful, beautiful music. being a fan of the Doom genre, I'll try not to be biased. The vocals are something some may need to get used to, but if u give him a chance, they'll grow on you. Clean vocals in Doom bands seem to be a thing of the past in the eyes of many, but they work way better imo than predominant growls in most cases (funeral doom is an exception). Guitar work is excellent, synths are used very well, and violins can be heard throughout. fans of Solitude Aeturunus will no doubt love this album and I eagerly await this bands next album coming out this year, it being 6 whole years in the making. I am also saddened to see so few reviews for this band.

3.5 great
Anubis Gate The Detached
At the Gates The Red in the Sky Is Ours
there are some truly sick songs on this album (Windows, Through the Gardens of Grief) but there are also some pretty below average songs as well. Good debut album from a very famous band

Rainmaker is a great track. I realize that they are very thespian-type individuals, however the only issue I have with this album is that there are too many "ballad" tracks. Maybe a few more spins will change my mind. A great start to a great band!

3.0 good
Children of Bodom Blooddrunk
Dark The Suns In Darkness Comes Beauty
Dark The Suns All Ends In Silence
Disarmonia Mundi The Isolation Game
In Flames A Sense of Purpose
Nothing like they were before. I've been listening to these guys for years, and each
release has a different feel. At this point they aren't even metal anymore. People scream
and moan in anguish about bands going "commercial" and whatnot. That may be true, but asking
them to go back to their old sound is lunacy, and there's a reason. Don't EVER tell a band
to not change their sound. My philosophy is that a band should evolve their sound with each
release, and the band has been doing so from the start.
Unfortunately it's not as good as they can be. Production is terrible, and Anders
whines waaay too much these days in his tunes. Is he emo now? Anyway there are only a few
good tunes here, and if there are any songs to add to your playlist, it should be
"Condemned", "Tilt", and "Eraser". Bands who stick to the same formula only hurt their
integrity more than otherwise, so even though they suck, at least they're DIFFERENT. If you
don't like them now, listen to their older stuff...Or go listen to some Slough Feg ;)
