Faith No More The Real Thing

Pantera Far Beyond Driven
Sepultura Beneath the Remains
Sepultura's creative pinnacle. This record is all about the riffs, and let me tell you, these are perhaps the best riffs Sepultura has ever written so far. Even Paulo, who goes unheard on other Sepultura records does his best on creating bass fills and he even does a solo in of the songs. If you're a thrash fan and haven't listened to this yet, you're missing out.

A near classic. All songs here (barring the godawful title track) are perfectly crafted and very representative of the band's sound. Burton's mix between screaming and clean vocals is the obvious stand out here. The only problem with the record is the title track, which is one of the worst Fear Factory tracks ever.

Sepultura Dante XXI
The best album from Derrick Green fronted Sepultura era. Most of the songs are straight to business, fast, memorable and quality groove/hardcore anthems. It has some of the ballsiest songs Sepultura has written after Max left, but it's still not thrash, though. All in all: A step in the right direction that the band further developed with their next record, A-Lex.
Sepultura Roorback
Sepultura Against
Sepultura A-Lex
This is the best Sepultura record with Derrick Green, hands down. With this release, the band decided to ditch almost completely the experimental sound of records such as Roots, Against and Nation and focus on the agression they are well known for in the first place. The only downsides to this record is that the concept feels half baked and the recrd feels overlong.
Six Feet Under Haunted
Six Feet Under Warpath
Slayer Reign in Blood
Sleep Dopesmoker
This is just insane. If you're looking for the heaviest riff ever written, look no further. The song does get tiring near the end, but it's still amazing nonetheless.

Black Flag Damaged
Type O Negative Life Is Killing Me
The weakest of all Type O Negative's studio releases. While some of the tracks are worthwhile listening to (I Don't Wanna Be Me, IYDKMIGHTKY, Dream Is Dead come to mind), most of the tracks sound really dull and uninspired. This is a huge letdown after the masterpiece that was World Coming Down.

1.5 very poor
Dark Angel Darkness Descends
Devourment Molesting the Decapitated
Borderline unlistenable. Vocals are alright for the most part, but the songwriting on this record has got to be the one of the most monotone I've come across. It just keeps chugging on and on, almost like on an attempt to drive the listener nuts. However, the song "Choking On Bile" is decent and keeps this from getting the minimal score. Avoid this as if it were a plague.
Korn Follow the Leader
Six Feet Under Commandment
Pathetic. The first four tracks are decent at best, the rest is boring, uninspired trite. Most of the riffs sound like a variation of Doomday's opening riff. This is most obvious on Bled to Death. Vocals are way too low on the mix, but seeing how Chris Barnes destroyed his voice it's no wonder they mixed them so low in the first place. The rhythm section does nothing special during the entire record. Six Feet Under should concentrate more on songwriting rather than smoking weed.

1.0 awful
Sepultura Roots
It's really difficult to understand how people have the nerve to call this a "classic". Influenced by the likes of the Deftones and Korn, Sepultura took a downtuned approach to their riffing and simplified their songwriting (even more than they did on Chaos A.D). Add to the mix native Brazilian music influences and you have quite possibly the worst metal record to ever come out from the Brazillian metal scene. There are no redeeming factors whatsoever on listening to this. Riffs are dumb two/three note drivel, lyrics make no sense at all and the vocals sound silly. It doesn't really help that the record is about thirty minutes too long. At least the band recovered from this horror show with their subsequent releases. Stay away at all costs.
