5.0 classic
Bathory Blood Fire Death
Blind Guardian Nightfall In Middle-Earth
Bon Iver For Emma, Forever Ago
Cloudkicker Subsume
Emperor In the Nightside Eclipse
This is an astonishing Black Metal album with so many layers of darkness. The album is so deep, you can get lost in the amazing imagery that is conjured. It remains brutal, atmospheric, fast and frantic at the same time. It is a must have for those who are into Black Metal or are looking to explore the genre. 5/5.
Guns N' Roses Appetite for Destruction
House Vs. Hurricane Forfeiture
This is the best EP I heard in 2008. This band have provided a blueprint for what is a truly spectacular, dynamic and unique sound with a quality production job. Unorthodox instrumentation provides a little bit of variety, and some interesting songwriting techniques give this Ep its own unique style as it flows from song to song. This record is always an entertaining listen from start to finish with a whole range of crushingly brutal sounds to even the softest of textures. Get your hands on this now if you are even remotley interested in post-hardcore!
5/5 with not a hint of doubt in my mind.

Slayer Reign In Blood
This album is complete musical exhilaration. The defining point I have about "Reign In Blood" is that is simply cannot be compared to anything else. There is nothing else like this album! Slayer achieved a new level of chaotic musical intensity here and no one comes near it.
Slayer at their insane musical best. Without a doubt, classic.

Opeth Ghost Reveries
I can still remember when i bought this CD about 2 and a half years ago. It was my first Opeth album, and I loved it instantly.
Opeth are Death/Prog band with an purely individual sound. Led by Vocalist/Guitarist Michael Akerfeldt, this band pushes the genre to new boundaries. "Ghost Reveries" is a simply magical release, jam packed with an amazing amount of depth, contrast and melody. Each song is purely crafted, with sounds varying from blazing death metal fury to clean, soft and melodious.
Definitely worth checking out.
Ovid's Withering Scryers of the Ibis
Pink Floyd The Wall
Roadrunner United The All-Star Sessions
This worked. And it worked really well. Sometimes when you combine a dream team, be it musicians or football players, it can fizzle out and sound crap, but this record hits the mark spot on. There's heaps of talent and awesome songs an it's interesting to see the band members mixed around. The songs range from brutal to beautiful, and all of them have good replay value. Insane guitar solos are scattered throughout the record. Some really great heavy tunes and very headbangable.

Its brutal as fuck. Grinding heavily distorted guitars, awesome bass and drumming, and some extremely deep death growls to top it all off. Songs all have great riffs, the most catchiest probably being HAMMER SMASHED FACE. The beat will stay in your head for ages. The lyrics on this album can be described as insane, bizarre, fucked up, stupid, br00tal or all of the above. I mean not everyone writes a song called "Entrails Ripped From a Virgin's C*nt.
This album is very high standard death metal and considered a fan favourite. Pick it up for sure!

Iron Maiden Killers
"Killers" by Iron Maiden is always a great listen. It's the last Maiden album to feature Paul Diannio on vocals, and he gives a great performance, hitting a lot of really high notes. The whole album has the distinct early Iron Maiden groove to it, which no band comes near to reckoning with. Guitarist Adrian and Dave let out some killer legato solos and some awesome twin guitar harmony solos. Bassist Steve Harris is one of the best in metal and he shines through on this album. The only criticism i have of this album is that the songs can tend to sound the same at some points. Apart from that, this is still a great album from the ever-mighty Irons.

This is a slow, sludgy and below average album. Every song seems to have the same tempo and feel to it, constantly generating boringness. I hardly listen to this album at all because of these reasons. Vocalist David Draiman does the high pitched "YA, YA" thing at annoying times in most songs. Every song just echoes the previous one. 2/5

SOAD are just about the only metal band i can't really get into. Its hard to put my finger on, but something about the style of this band doesn't quite do it for me. I think maybe it all just sounds kinda dry to my ears. The guitar tone is usually very, very raw and seems to just scrape along with Serj's annoying vocals.
Not my type of metal.
