Radiohead were already one of the biggest bands in the world and they had nothing to prove. So why was In Rainbows their safest, slickest pop record yet? The band sounds like they need to lay off the coffee and just relax. "Videotape" is welcome as a pretty closing track, but the transition from the spastic "Jigsaw Falling Into Place" is horrible. In sum, In Rainbows is polished to a quick, snappy, lifeless pop fetish with little of its artistic potential realized.
