As Cities Burn Hell or High Water |
This album encompasses what true unadulterated raw emotion is. The lead singer let's you know what he's feeling through his voice at all time, whether it be sorrow or happiness. Not to mention the guitarists play some incredibly creative lines and riffs, along with a drummer who throws in unique fills every thirty seconds. Best album of 2009 so far. |
Between the Buried and Me The Silent Circus |
My absolute favorite album of all time, nothing tops this. After the self-titled album, Between the Buried and Me stepped it up and completely destroyed all expectations, creating an album that takes you on a journey through almost every genre in metal. Strap on your seat belts, because folks, your about to take a ride through "The Silent Circus." |

Okay. Upping the rating to a classic. I have listened to nothing but this album since I first heard it like a week and a half ago. This hasn't happened since I first heard Jane Doe, which is also one of my favorite album of all time. Any album that I can listen to that many times in a row is automatically considered a classic in my mind.
If their next album is any better than this one I might never listen to any other album again. |

Taken This is Forever |
A remaster of their old demo named, conveniently, "This is Forever." It also features demos of songs off of their EP "Between Two Unseens" and two live tracks. This may be a compilation. But the combination of demos, live tracks, and old songs creates one of the most consistently awesome melodic metalcore releases I have ever heard. If you like metalcore, find this immediately. |
The Carrier No Love Can Save Me |
The Mars Volta Frances the Mute |
The Red Chord Fused Together in Revolving Doors |
The Secret Luce |
I've been giving out a lot of classic ratings nowadays, but I can honestly say no album, let
alone metalcore release, deserves it more than this. This album has been growing on me now
for months which is almost an exact replica of the effect Jane Doe had on me last year. I
liked one song at first, then moved on to kind of liking it... then one day it just clicked
and I loved Jane Doe. The exact same thing is happening with this album. I don't know if its
the fact that every song features an incredibly unique and crushing breakdown, or the fact
that every riff and segment of the album is overwhelmingly enjoyable once you catch on. It
could even be the fact that they even have some influences from my favorite post metal giant,
Isis. Do yourself a favor metal/hardcore/metalcore fans, pick this album up immediately and
at least appreciate the fact that this band has one of the most automatically recognizable
sounds to unearth itself in the past ten years. Just enjoy this fucking near perfect
metalcore album, right now. |
The Swarm Parasitic Skies |
By far one of the greatest oldschool hardcore albums ever made, and what do you know? The lead singer of Cursed is the frontman, coincidences don't happen people. This album is fast, brutal, visceral, disgusting, unrelenting, and ridiculously heavy for it's time. People, welcome to the dawn of metalcore. |

Between the Buried and Me Alaska |
I once thought that this was Between the Buried and Me's weakest album besides the unpopular self-titled... but I have done two things since then: I started listening to much more "real" metalcore and more classic acts, and I have also come to realize what a good breakdown is, which does not consist of chugga chugga riffs and bass heavy guitar tuning. This album is just as good as both Colors and The Silent Circus, which are both classics in my eyes.
From the technical sweeping to the entrancing instrumental "Laser Speed" at the end, this album is filled with definitive moments. One of these moments would include the all to famous falsetto about 3/4's through "Backwards Marathon." I recommend this to anyone who listens to metalcore... or even music as a whole. This is a masterpiece. |

Between the Buried and Me The Great Misdirect |
I didn't like it that much at first, but damn this album is up there with the likes of "The Silent Circus" (but not quite there). Easily my favorite album of the year... this album is just so much fun from start to finish. Whether your going into a trance with the opening Mirrors, or jamming out to the groovy breakdown in Disease, Injury, Madness... or even headbanging to the most epic riff BTBAM have ever written 13:15 into Swim to the Moon, you will be thoroughly enjoying yourself the entire time. |

Wow. That's all I can say. I hated every Chariot album before this, but for some reason this really clicks for me. Its probably the fact that it is all of the place and one of the heaviest things ever. Also, the vocalist is constantly screaming his lungs out, and to put it simply, that makes me so god damn happy. Way to go Chariot. |

This album is strange. It's one of those albums where it only catches your attention because you like one song a lot (for me it was the intro) and you hate or dislike everything else on the album. But then you listen to it more intensely and realize it's fucking amazing. Anyone who likes death metal, hardcore, or post metal should check this shit out immediately. |

An amazing hardcore album... probably the best of the year. Might become a classic if I start to like it anymore. This album will fuck your shit up. |

Well the band's nineth studio album, I was really awaiting this album. I took a listen, and to this day this is one of my favorite albums. I just can't stop listening to it, its like an illegal drug that enters your system and keeps you hooked for weeks. It is definately much softer than In Flames' previous works, but I still love this album. I love the new kind of half screaming, half singing vocals from Anders. The melodic guitar melodies are very soothing to the ear, but then the heavy riffs break in and you can't help yourself from headbanging or tapping your feet. The drums are pretty good, but nothing amazing, we've seen it all before. My recomended tracks are The Mirror's Truth, Alias, I'm the Highway, Move Through Me, The Chosen Pessimist, Condemned, March to the Shore, and if you have the bonus tracks, check out the song Eraser. Eraser has become one of my favorite songs of all time, so I strongly suggest you try and download it from somewhere. |

Ok so at first I didn't even bother to listen to this album, because all I kept hearing was, "This is a disgrace to In Flames," or, "This is one step into a bad direction for In Flames." But I picked it up one day and I got to say, I was quite surprised. Its definately an experimental album for sure, but its still a pretty good effort. I was really impressed with the new singing vocals from Anders, because their actually pretty damn good. Whats hilarious about this whole thing is that the two singles are the best songs on the album. A few recomended tracks from me are Cloud Connected, Trigger, Dismiss the Cynics, Dawn of a New Day, Black and White, and Egonomic. Anyways a great album, I suggest anyone new to In Flames, or fans of In Flames to take a listen. |
