4.5 superb
Guster Lost And Gone Forever
Well, I found Guster after spending a long time enjoying Dispatch and 311. Guster is an outstanding band and I think this is one of their best productions ever! Thanks for the great review, it almost feels nostalgic to me... =]
Pete Philly and Perquisite Mystery Repeats
'Mystery Repeats' is the second full-length album by Pete Philly and Perquisite. Their first album, 'Mindstate', blends smooth beats and jazzy melodies over a great instrumentation. 'Mystery repeats' goes way beyond that, with music that reveals serious production and quality (yes, quality) hip hop.
The album flows very naturally, which reflects the hard work in producing and mixing the songs. Their music is unique and stylish, a product from conventional instrumentation, poetic lyrics and creativity, passing above and beyond ordinary bounds from hip hop. I know it sounds a little excessive (heh, maybe it is) but I'm really tired of repetitive lyrics and short samples being considered hip hop (compare any beat from 'Mystery repeats' with the boredom of Kanye's 'Can't tell me nothin' and find it for yourself).
There is no need to review each song. The albums consists of a solid music experience (or should you call it a trip), with melodic versatility and inspiring vibes. Merging nostalgic moments with emotional lyrics, this is a very eclectic production.
Keeping it short, this is one to remember. It's nothing like regular hip hop, so if you like the standards keep your eyes off this pearl. This is hip hop as it should be: experimental, emotional, explicit and funny.
Porcupine Tree Fear of a Blank Planet
Awesome review! I love Porcupine since their first riff and this is a great album. A classic, for sure. =]
Can't wait to see what's coming up next year.
Porcupine Tree Nil Recurring

4.0 excellent
Death Cab for Cutie The Photo Album
Kottonmouth Kings Hidden Stash 2
This is a classic! I love the way music flows between tracks, it's a journey into their mind. This album is less instrospective and much more aggressive than some other albums from Kottonmouth.

3.5 great
Talib Kweli Eardrum
It's a nice album, but nothing to remember. I used to listen to Talib a lot a couple of years ago, but his recent songs feel a little too ordinary... Anyway, it's better than the latest Mos Def album.

2.5 average
Kanye West Graduation
I didn't like it neither... previous albums were much better and, why not, stronger. Tracks are repetitive and lyrics are way too cliché. I'm tired of glam rap anyway..
