They are constantly in my CD player. But this isn't the Mae I know and love. Change is good. But change for changes sake is a very bad thing. And it appears that Mae's label switch and decision to make a "harder" rock album were very bad changes indeed. Capitol records is the worst thing to happen to Mae yet. The opening song, "Brink of Disaster", is what starts the disaster for me. It starts with a short drum fill and then a nasty, ear-grating synth sound that remains throughout the entire song. I just can't listen to it. And the sad part is, the album goes downhill from there. That's not to say the album doesn't have a few listen-able songs. "Just let Go" is a very enjoyable song with light rhythm guitar throughout the song and prominent keys. "Crazy 8s" is also a highlight of the album. Overall, however, the album fails to live up to its rather high expectations. A disappointment from Mae.
