5.0 classic
AFI Sing the Sorrow
this is an amazing album. and i dont say that just cuz im a huge fan-girl but because this album is pure emotion but not just that. you see, alot of other albums are packed with emotion, but the genius of STS is that it combines rivetting lyrics with skilled musicianship to form a being of despair. this is sorrow at it's finest: combined with skill.
AFI The Art of Drowning
again, the lyrics really stand out. and musically it's packed so hard with emotion it makes you cry (i did), shout with anger, and pound your fists with frustration. the ever-present bass line is what really makes this album charge forward. the guitars are rough in sound but smooth in transition. vocals are piercing and meaningful. drums are determined and steady. overall just an amazing album. best tracks are: A Story At Three, Wester, Days of the Phoenix, The Lost Souls, Of Greetings and Goodbyes

4.5 superb
AFI Black Sails in the Sunset
lyrically this just might be the best punk album made. davey's lyrics keep you listening and draw you in. great bass lines too. my favorite songs are: Narrative of Soul Against Soul, The Prayer Position, At A Glance, and God Called in Sick Today
AFI All Hallow's E.P.
All That Remains The Fall of Ideals
From First to Last Heroine
HIM Razorblade Romance
Nightwish Highest Hopes

HIM Venus Doom
after Dark LIght i was a little worried about what HIM was going to do next. Because once that album was released HIM lost a lot of momentum as a classic band. I mean, Love Metal propelled them forward toward having the chance to be one of the best bands in the world. Dark Light ruined that (which may have been due to Valo's drinking problems...that's a separate opinion). If Venus Doom, a much better album, had been released as the album after Love Metal, perhapse HIM could have reached that level. Venus Doom is experimental and weird (compared to Dark Light at least), but at least it's entertaining and catchy, unlike DL. It seems that at least Valo really got what he wanted this time around. It's not heavy-as-hell like he had said, but the chanting breakdown moments in Venus Doom and Sleepwalking Past Hope are very unnusual and well-used. Very good album.

AFI I Heard a Voice DVD
All That Remains Behind Silence and Solitude
Blaqk Audio CexCells
Brian Head Welch Save Me From Myself
the music's really well written, but the lyrics need to support that. But considering Head has been the guitarist and backup singer for Korn and never had to write lyrics before, it's not as awful as it could have been.
Children of Bodom Are You Dead Yet?
Evanescence The Open Door

HIM And Love Said No

Killswitch Engage The End of Heartache

Papa Roach The Paramour Sessions
Rise Against The Sufferer and the Witness

The Rasmus Black Roses
the whole album seems to be based around his divorce. and that has brought some amazing lyrics from Lauri. i feared his emotions would result in some stupid love and loss types of songs. oh me of little faith.... the album is really solid and feels like its about so much. so instead of being dumb it's emotionally gripping and different
The Rasmus Dead Letters
The Used Lies for the Liars

Pennywise Reason to Believe
the songs all stood alone very well, but when listened to in sequence they were very boring. Pennywise is a good band, but there is a serious lack of variety on there albums. If they were a little braver and tried some completely different things this album would've hit better with me.

My Chemical Romance I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love
My Chemical Romance Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge
i have all three of MCR's CD's and this is my favorite. The songs have the best yrics i have ever heard. my favorites are "You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison", "The Ghost of You", and "Thank You For The Venom". Seriously, Gerard Way should try screaming a little more often because he's really good. What else can I say? Buy the album! you won't be disappointed!
Razed in Black Damaged
Tiger Army II: Power of Moonlite
alright, let's admit: in this nice album the intro is the best part. it's really exiting, making you want more. but, as for the rest of the album, exitement comes from Nick 13's oddly cool vocals and the structure of the songs. there's some variety and the back-up vocals are a good touch. sometimes i just want out but other times i really enjoy hoe different Tiger Army stays. it's kind of rockabiliy meets horrorpunk meets some other kind of thing. so, overall a great breath of fresh air

Kittie Oracle
Thirty Seconds to Mars A Beautiful Lie
ok this album is just not my thing. i normally like the whole album, but this time i LOVE their singles and the other ones just seem like filler: far too mundane and done-before. This would have been better off as an EP (the kill, from yesterday, the fantasy, attack) because halfway through i got very bored. the redeeming factor is Jared Leto's voice. but the song writing isn't very good.
