This album, without a doubt, was a colossal disappointment. There are too many elementary errors to even account for. It seemed as if this album was thrown together in a two-week rush period. Everything from the drums to vocals seemed rush and fucked up. Metallica has seemed to devolve the attitude of quantity over quality. The passion they once had is completely absent in St. Anger. And that may very well be what this album is lacking -- passion. James Hetfield used to be the driving force behind Metallica, but with his passion comes his laziness. He has seems to given up, feeling as though there is no more to accomplish after of his earlier success. When he decided to let the other band members, and even Phil, write lyrics, it's as if we were passing the torch -- waving the white flag. As I regret to say, James Hetfield's creative side has seemed to retire, and with that signals the end of Metallica as we knew it.
