Rick Rubin, who is known for his Grammy winning work with rap and heavy metal fails at showcasing either one of these genres in this album. Hard thumping beats, relentless rock and anger described Linkin Park's last two albums. Three songs in this collection come close to delivering this, Bleed it Out being the worst. The title is just too corny to be a rock anthem. Unfortunatly it's one of the few tracks that combines rap and rock in the same song which is what the band is known for. Maybe LP is getting old, rich and are even settling down with families that they no longer know what to be angry about. Rick Rubin with his organs, violins and background singers have stripped LP of the raw and gritty sound that made this band famous in the first place. The album cover fits the bands new image and sound; depressing and slow. Dressed in all black the members stand on the beach staring at the water, probably contemplating suicide. The seventh track, Hands Held High only helps enhance the funeral vibe of the art. How symbolic being that this album could be the death of their careers.
